Tearing through COBRA KAI series 4 (we watched eps 1-3 on Sunday night and 4-7 last night).
Daft, but enjoyable fan service TV series continuation of characters and events from the original KARATE KID (Daniel San) films.
Each episode is about 30 minutes long so you zip through them in no time.
As Carole says 'they're an easy watch'.

Netflix Lost In Space season 3. Three episodes in. Unfortunately not as good as season two. It's just all over the place and I'm having a hard time following the story. Maybe I need to revisit season two again before continuing. The plots are rather daft and thus far the action sequences are dull and retreads of what they've done already.

Am thoroughly enjoying cbs series Clarice, based on agent Starling post-Buffalo bill. Competent cast and Rebecca Breeds is a worthy replacement for Jodie Foster. In uk its on our Alibi channel

I've signed up with Netflix (cheap & easy), & a whole new viewing world has opened up. Anyway, I just saw the first two episodes of the French series, Call My Agent, I love it, & I see that there's a lot of episodes to catch up on.

I finished season one of Call My Agent (only six episodes), droll, warm & intelligent. I'd give it a try if you don't mind subtitles (it's French), & talking of subtitles, I think I'll give Squid Game a go next. I have a lot of catching up to do with Netflix, Stranger Things & The Witcher for a start.

I'm still in denial that The Expanse is on "pause" for the indefinite future.

Meanwhile, I took a few minutes out for Peacemaker, but the only worthwhile takeaway was a glimpse of John Cena's bare ass. Gunn is so overrated as a comedy writer. He can't seem to let a joke go. Instead he insists on grinding them down to salt the stage.

We have watched 5 episodes of STATION ELEVEN. Slow in parts. There are a lot of time shifts, but overall, it's pretty good. Finished Yellowjackets. Started out well but kind of disintegrated towards the end.

The Responder
New BBC cop drama set in Liverpool.
It's the usual grim/gritty style, although there were one or two wee chuckles.
We watched 2 of the 5 last night.
The best thing about it is Martin Freeman's Scouse accent.
I've seen many, many actors do bad ones* (too fake, too exaggerated) but he nailed it pretty much perfectly...like...lad.

*most of them, actually.

The Responder

This has gotten a lot of good press, particularly for Freeman's performance, the air of unpleasantness, the fact it's written by a former copperā€¦ and, sure, Freeman is more or less convincing in his portrayal of a character at his wit's end perched at the edge of a cliff for the better part of 5hrs, but I found the plotting contrived, and the conclusion all too pat and convenient.

And then there's his partner's abuse subplot that comes out of nowhere in the 4th episodeā€¦

Eh. There are certainly far worse things to watch.

This week I've been watching an episode of Squid Game followed by an episode of Man Men (season five). I think that generally TV has been so much better than movies for some years now, & I never thought I'd say that.

The Responder fizzled out into shit.
As noted above, a lazy, contrived, too pat conclusion was rubbish and didn't really resolve much.
We enjoyed landmark spotting and Freeman was very good with a spot on scouse accent, but overall, it was just your average grim/gloomy/depressing cop/drugs drama. Standard issue really.

Watched the first few episodes of the Netflix spoof series The Woman In The House Across The Road From The... (or whatever it's called), starring the girl from The Good Place (Kristen Bell?).
Daft, light fun. Don't know how it's gonna sustain itself for much longer though.

Finished the Netflix spoof series 'The Woman In The House..." (8 episodes).
It was garbage, but decent, not unenjoyable garbage.
I've suffered through far worse.

I also thought Woman In The House was garbage. I used the fast forward button.

Just finished the first half of season 4 of Ozark. It was tense and well-done.

I finished season five of Mad Men, brilliant as usual, just two seasons to go, I'm really going to miss it when it comes to an end, probably mid-year, as I'm giving it a rest for a couple of months. Dexter season six next, & I have four episodes to go of Squid Game, I'm spoiled for choice after that, as I've made a list of Netflix series that I want to watch.

I was going to watch a couple of episodes of Squid Game this evening, but ep. 6, the marbles ep. was pretty gut wrenching, so I left it at that. Let's cheer myself up with Dexter.

Agreed, with the ending of part 1 of this last season a hell of a cliffhanger.
