What exactly does it have written after Harrison Ford's name?

Can't quite get it all.

prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair[/]

Xebec, you raise interesting points about biographies or historical movies. I would want those to be historically accurate. (Tarantino would be an exception, of course.) I just watched The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, and obviously the director and scriptwriter seem biased towards Nazis and their extermination camps. Bias will occur if a point needs to be made. 12 Years As A Slave showed bias towards "some" planation owners who were so cruel. We have political bias in movies if that is what the director and scriptwriter has in mind when they make the movie. We are dealing with artistic points of view.

I don't think this algorithm will be the end of the world, but we just have to watch and see. And viewers have the right to not watch or view movies that they don't agree with.

The Disney Algorithm?
Here's how it'll work.
In trying to please everyone, they'll end up pleasing no one.

That's gotta be a Sachs Baron Cohen bit.
Right?
Right?

Balance, huh? The Universe doesn't care about you in any shape, manner, or form.

Nicholas never said anything that even implied that it did.
You gotta stay on point, dude.

GENDER BIAS---the Walt Disney Company will use a digital tool to analyze scripts for gender, LGBTQIA, race and disabilities bias. The tool, GD-IQ, was developed by Geena Davis's Institute on Gender in Media.

Dear lord, the rampant epic stupidity.

On top of that why do you need a (probably expensive) digital tool for this? Every creative company has guidelines. Just state no white male characters allowed in our scripts. Simple as that!

I don't understand why people are so offended by this software. From the description, its intention appears to be identifying bias that is very likely unintentional by the screenwriters. Once issues are identified by the software, it will be up to humans to decide how, if at all, the issues are to be addressed. Depending on the story, the answer may be not at all, or it may involve massive rewrites. Odds are, if it is an obvious problem to begin with, they won't need software to determine if there is a problem. Seems much ado about nothing.

There has been a lack of diversity in Hollywood for a long time, and this seems to be one of the ways Disney wants to address this problem. How is this any different from hiring consultants (something I expect pretty much every studio has done at this point) to examine screenplays for the same issues?

Orwell didn't imagine there would be so many Big Brothers out there. It's human nature to take offense, but it's the internet, twitter, etc. that allow elevating the tiniest infraction of a social issue to criminal status. It doesnt take much effort to send a message electronically, but if you had to go outside and protest, how many "social justice leaguers" would bother?

I was going to respond myself but that's it in a nutshell.
