Cool! Have a great time. I have to wait another hour, simply because I can't afford to drink extensively at Norwegian restaurants and pubs for a long period of time ($12 per beer takes its toll for someone without income).

$6 per beer at several pubs here in Kristiansand! The "beer war" is on. Had been paradise for you ol' drinker.

Geezes, I wish I were in Kristiansand. Drunk now. Report back tomorrow.

Haven't heard much from our Thor lately. I was just about to offer him a Carlsberg...

...guess I'll have to hand it over to our Thomas. wink

I think he even takes vacation from the board some weeks in the summer.

Probably a wise decision, taking into account all the nutcases here.

Not really. I probably would if I had one though...

Today is Friday, and the end of the college summer semester at work is here, so I can begin my extended time off this weekend by having a few pints of "Ye Olde Carlsberg" (as Thomas memorably put it), though I still have to work next week for final grades and whatnot.

I was going to go and see the latest Tarantino film this weekend, but I have the Criterion Bergman Box, so screw you, Q!

Addendum to that "Screw you Q" thing. I'll be seing Once Upon a Time in Hollywood later today and will either celebrate the film's excellence with Ye Olde Carlsberg or commiserate in the film's shiteness with Ye Olde Carlsberg...

Found a bottle of Arak that a colleague from work gave me over two years ago, It's an anise-flavored spirit that I must have mentioned here before. It's best mixed with club soda.

Also have some of Ye Olde Carlsberg chilling in the fridge now that my summer vacation has officially begun.

I also see that Thor is back posting. Welcome back, Haga. smile

...and cheers!

Cheers, and about time you had your holiday, Jim! I'm down a bottle of Rosemount white wine already. Summer is still sparkling here in Oslo, with close to 30 C during the day.

Back home after a month of living in a suitcase. First a few days in my hometown, then several days at our family island at the Norwegian south coast, then two full weeks at our family summer house in Denmark (yeah, it all sounds posh, but it really isn't if I were to go into it).

Very liberating to take time off from messageboards and most online activity in general. I see that nothing has really happened here while I was away.

Impressive! I know I couldn't do that. Rather the opposite for me, I guess I'm more online during holidays than the rest of the year.

But it's great reading books and magazines and live like it's 1989 again. :-D

I have also seen all 3 seasons of Stranger Things during July.

Yeah, we're quite different there. I also take a complete break from TV, film, music listening and most anything else in July and thereabouts. Summer is all about living outside (weather permitting), social gatherings, family, taking hikes and trips and that kind of stuff. Beers, nature, relaxing, media free! smile

Of course, now I have a lot of catching up to do.

The BBC travel series COAST--BillCarson's favorite show-- had an episode in Denmark and it was mentioned that those summer homes--actually, they were beach cottages--were for Danish citizens only. Do you have Danish relatives, Thor?

Yes, my grandmother on my father's side was Danish. She bought it in 1983, and then my dad bought it from her in the early 2000s. It's a full summer house, though, not a "beach cottage". But you're right -- usually, you have to have Danish relatives when you want to buy as a foreigner. Then again, these rules have relaxed somewhat in recent years.

'Twas my birthday yesterday so a few friends and I went into the city to a few bars. Had some fancy beers in some expensive spots and had a few vodka which I'm regretting now. Ended up at an 80s night disco! Fun night, and there was plenty of good looking women. It was Pride day as well so everywhere was packed.

Happy belated birthday, Thomas. Hope those "fancy beers" included that fanciest of all beers, Ye Olde Carlsberg on draught (draft).

God, I have a crazy night ahead of me.

Invited to a summer party, even though the weather is shit. It's in a big tent near a mini golf course about 250 meters from where I live. Inside the tent, they're roasting a wild boar, viking-style. There's free beer on tap. Later, we're going inside to the host's huge apartment. He has -- among other things -- a bar cupboard that stretches from roof to floor. Karaoke has been suggested. Loads of people, and I only know the host -- who I've met once. Expecting the party to last untill the wee hours of the morn.

Five beers and a glass of cognac in at home; I should be prepared enough. See you on the other side.
