This from a man who ' reads' comic books.

271. LK in the immortal "Don't Kill Us...but guess what we found":

"A box of Towering Infernos. They showed up when we moved the inventory to Screen Archives late last year. We have been sitting on them until now because of fear of setting off a feeding frenzy.

What we have not, and WILL not, do is sell them on ebay for ghastly sums. I don't believe in that.

MY idea for getting these into loving homes is to GIVE them away with big bulk purchases of FSM back catalog CDs. In other words, buy 10 of our old CDs ($200), and we'll GIVE you for free a Towering Inferno. So it's sort of like selling them, but not really. (We would make exceptions only for Charter members who regularly buy large amounts of FSM CDs.)

DO NOT contact us or Screen Archives just yet trying to get one. What I want is feedback here in this thread to see if we can set up a system that is fair. If we can't, we simply won't sell or give these away at all.

Post HERE and let me know what you think...

I am almost afraid to hit the "post message" button but here goes...

Lukas"

272. haineshisway, working through the grief in order to hustle and make deals of his own in the Nick Redman thread:

"THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES went for $199.00 !!
Someone beat me to it"

"Someone wants to fork over two hundred bucks for Josey Wales, you can have mine."

"Do you actually have it?"

haineshisway: "I do indeed. Just drop me an e-mail at the kritzerland at gmail address."

273. Sean "Longhair" Nethery in "New Intrada: Young Sherlock Holmes":

"Great booklet. But speaking as a former violinist/violist, I wish they hadn't included the pic of Holmes "playing" the violin. The right hand looks mostly OK on the bow, but that left claw gripping the fingerboard ain't gonna make beautiful music together." wink*

"Nick Redman Estate Sale..":

Ryan Paquet exhibiting a Thor - like precision in his tabulations and lists:

"A lovely collection. I counted 442 titles just before noon and saw that it dropped to 441 - so at least one has sold already. "

275. Disco Stu in "Movies that SHOULD be Remade":

"Logan's run". That film should be remade every 10 years as a warning because the obsession of the Western world with all things youth is pathetic, destructive, stupid and irritating. The least interesting segment of the human race is getting all the attention and air time, and it has to stop. "Logan's run" is well suited an analogy to point out the dangerous sides of society's unfounded longing for being that phase in a life where the human animal has its head furthest up its arse."

276. OnyaBirri in "The Alan Meyerson Score Mixing Seminar":

"8:30 - Coffee, light breakfast.
9:00 - Welcome; Volume knob basics.
10:30 - Coffee break, networking
11:00 - Turning up the volume: When you want the music to be really loud.
Noon - Lunch, Keynote Address: Was that a tympani, or an explosion?
1:30 - Turning down the volume: When you want the music to be really quiet.
3:00 - Dessert, networking
3:30 - Where is that damn buzz coming from? Incorporating the quirks of your inexpensive equipment into the soundscape.
5:00 Cocktail reception, networking"

277. BillCarson's reply to johnonymous86's argument about Tuco from TGBU in "Villains You Kind of Like":

Johnonymous86: "I make the argument that Tuco is not a villain--he is morally ambiguous, leaning towards evil (definitely self-serving) but he is not the villain of the movie. Morally, he resides between the good and the bad (hence--the ugly). He is a gauge for determining the extent to which Blondie is good and Angel eyes is bad.

All three are villains/killers only different shades ."

BillCarson: ".....wanted in 14 counties of this state, the condemned is found guilty of the crimes of murder, armed robbery of citizens, state banks and post offices, the theft of sacred objects, arson in a state prison, perjury, bigamy, deserting his wife and children, inciting prostitution, kidnapping, extortion, receiving stolen goods, selling stolen goods, passing counterfeit money, and, contrary to the laws of this state, the condemned is guilty of using marked cards..."

I hope everybody who got a " free" INFERNO, remembered to pay a ' gift tax'. ( just like those saps on game shows who think that new fridge they won is " free")

Thor’s typical backhanded (anti?) complement, followed by “what you can do for me” request and Lukas’s appropriately short but epic response.

Very nice offer! I don't have the Blue Box, so I would have taken you up on it if I didn't live on the other side of the world.

Any chance you have spare copies of the booklet you wrote for the Arista STAR WARS box back in the 90s? Alas, the spine glue disintegrated only weeks after I got it in '95, so now it's all loose leafs.

Good grief, NO!!!

Lukas
