The 2018 remastered CD adds the taiko drums back onto track 1, "Star Wars and the Revenge of the Sith" and track 10, "Anakin's Dark Deeds." They're heard in the film but were left off the 2005 album.
I was just listening to those tracks again online and the drums help ENORMOUSLY. I need to pick up this CD.
I seem to remember there might have been a couple of other tracks on the 2018 remastered album that also had drums added back in, does anyone remember which tracks those were?
The original album had a very sudden edit into the the action music, before the main theme even played out. Has that been fixed? Or did they just add drums?

I believe they just restored the drums, I believe the track timings are identical.
I double dipped and bought this release. I like the addition of the drums, but is that enough to make it worth double dipping? I dunno. It does sound pretty good, but I don't recall it necessarily sounding much better than the original album. If you already own the original soundtrack, and just want the tracks with the drums added, have you thought about buying digital copies of the two tracks, and assembling a playlist?
I wish they'd gone one further and included the first minute of the cue - with drums only - rather than leaping in mid-action. That always felt like a dubious decision considering how powerful and unusual that opening sequence is!

I agree, I always loved that opening, but I suspect if they had changed the duration of the track, there would have been all sorts of legal issues, because it wouldn't be the album as Williams signed off on it. Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if the drums were added back in either by accident or surreptitiously by someone without permission.
If I recall correctly... I believe the whole idea behind these albums was to present the tracks as we are familiar with them from the previous releases, but each track has been reconstructed using the film takes. I'm not sure how many tracks in total that affects, but they're a nice (If not strange, or just plain wrong sounding in a few instances) addition to the collection if they can be found cheap enough.
No they only did that for episode one. There were some bonus tracks from Target I think and one or two separate downloads, but no 2-disc version.
Thank you, Mutant. I had seen B--tlegs of 'entended' versions of these scores, but they did not interest me. Oh well. I guess we will have to just wait and see.

That was Attack of the Clones with the unnamed bonus track* (on the back inlay, booklet, or CD itself), so good luck tracking that down from anyone trustworthy on eBay. I don't think there's a UPC distinguishing the difference between Target and regular versions.
* Some unofficially call it "On the Conveyor Belt", but I prefer "The Droid Factory".
I prefer the film mix for "1m3 Boys Into Battle" which is the first cue after the Main Titles. The album version is just one I've never liked.
The Old Republic game featured pretty much the entire cue of "1m3 Boys Into Battle".
I for one just like the expanded intended version of all three Prequels. I also have always preferred the film mixes for the scores instead of the album versions.
James if you are interested drop me an email bigt1981 at gmail and let me know who you are on this board.

The correct cue name for "On The Conveyor Belt" is "5m5 Finding The Conveyor" and 5m6 "The Conveyor Belt".
Here are the original cue names along with slate numbers for all three Prequel scores.
There are gaps in between the cues for AOTC and ROTS that's because that is for the tracked music that they did.
