Never heard this. Why wouldn't he want to do Strange 2?
I'm sure HE wants to do it, but the movie has a new director (Raimi) who might want to bring on a new composer (Elfman or Young perhaps?). But hoping Giacchino will get the job, although I would be happy with any of these 3 composers really
I'd hope Giacchino does Doctor Strange 2... even if I've always found his more recent thematic material to all have similar feel (I start humming Doctor Strange and somehow it turns into his Star Trek)
I'm torn between thinking that Feige would push Giacchino to score it and thinking that it's unlikely that Raimi wouldn't get to choose.
True. You never know, though, they might choose to "go in a new direction" with Phase 4, like after how Brian Tyler didn't come back after Phase 2
Except it seems that the reason Tyler hasn't come back isn't because Marvel wanted to go in a new direction, but because they weren't happy with his handling of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Otherwise, I don't see them bringing in Danny Elfman at the last minute. Which is a shame, as Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3 are two of my favorite scores composed by Tyler.
Giacchino, on the other hand has scored three movies, soon to be four, wrote the current Marvel fanfare, and provided some assistance on the Captain Marvel score. So, unless Raimi pounds the table demanding a new composer, I suspect that it is Giacchino's to lose.

I suppose that makes sense, actually. I believe Whedon wanted to use Silvestri's theme(s) and Tyler's original work didn't, though I'll admit I haven't heard all of Tyler's original AoU yet (pre-Danny Elfman becoming involved). I don't feel like Tyler has felt as creative as he was earlier in his career for some time (even though I love Iron Man 3). But that's a whole separate thread...
I'd hope Raimi and Giacchino could work together, most definitely.
