Ughhh... this series doesn't sound the same without Beltrami. Now I don't know if I want to see it. I mean, whill Tyler use the themes? Or will it just sound like a horror droning mess?

Tyler is capable of composing a great score - but the real question is: why a reboot of SCREAM?

Yeah, money, sure. But is that brand not already damaged due to being overdone with four movies in the 90´s?

And why should SCREAM - as a comment on 70´s and 80´s slasher movies - now be relevant again?

It´s like the resurrection of SAW - why again torture porn?

HALLOWEEN, at least, tried to offer a sequel that could undo the damage of all the previous sequels and stay true to Laurie´s character.

It's a sequel.

Man, would it kill Film Music Reporter to credit the person for breaking this story. This was first announced in Vikram's interview with Tyler in this month's issues of FSM.

Keep in mind Tyler cut his teeth in horror and some of those scores - FRAILTY and DARKNESS FALLS among them - remain among his best work. I also really dug READY OR NOT, which was for these same directors.

That's not a horror droning mess and fits nicely with Beltrami's material for Sidney.

Beyond the obvious IP element it's definitely curious, especially when SCREAM 4 touched on some of the things that might make a new iteration relevant - Gale becoming a wannabe self-help guru, fame via web streaming, etc. I wouldn't be hopeful for it except that the directors have been lauded for having an interesting and fresh take, and they directed the hell out of the very entertaining READY OR NOT.

READY OR NOT wasn’t just a very fun film, but also my favorite Brian Tyler score in YEARS. I get people missing Beltrami on this but I’m cautiously optimistic.

C'mon John.
Pretty hard for them to get Wes Craven involved!!

Can't Zoomers come up with their own horror film series instead of remaking another one from the 90s generation of teens?

Disappointed in no Beltrami. If it were a straight reboot then sure, but with Neve, Courtney, and David coming back it’s disappointing he won’t get to continue telling their story. Wonder if he was even asked?

Sadly true... but the franchise was very much his baby. Not to say Scream 3 or, especially, Scream 4 were Craven classics but... well, we'll see...

Disappointing for not to get Beltrami, but if the Tyler is the same from Read or Not, i'm in.

That's a good question... no idea, though. But he CERTAINLY has a plenty of other things to do (and more to be announced soon) smile

Director’s choice. Obviously. „Ready or not” was critically acclaimed. Both movie and score.

I'll be perfectly honest: READY OR NOT would probably have been my favorite movie of the year, were it not for the OTHER "crazy rich family murder movie" that came out that year (KNIVES OUT). And like I said, Tyler's most inspired work in some time.

Saw this coming, but man, it's disappointing to get it confirmed, lol!
I sure hope he'll honor the themes. Specially Sidney's theme!

I am super excited for the movie though! I really do feel that the directors will do a great job honoring Wes Cravens legacy as they are huge fans of the movies. Just praying they wont turn it into a Ready or Not comedy!

Huh? Aren’t the Scream films themselves rather more comedic?
