I will miss the FSM label, I have MANY of their CDs in my collection, including the very first CD Lukas made - the first pressing of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. The Blue Box was and still is incredible, it holds a treasured place in my collection. The Rozsa box I absolutely adore and it, likewise, is a true centerpiece for me. Quo Vadis, Madame Bovary, who would have ever expected? Time After Time as well, so awesome! Heavy Metal and your other Bernstein releases, love them. I'm sure we'll get back to you with more "farewells" when the 250th release is out, Lukas, but I just wanted to say -- beyond the disagreements we've had off-board -- thank you very much for your work in preserving these treasures, and for getting out many of these gems which were previously completely unavailable. For my own part, the Williams ones have been a treat, in particular. Maybe there are even a couple more waiting among the next ten?? Good luck in your future projects. Be certain that you've left a considerable cultural legacy behind. And as you say yourself -- even though the FSM label may come to an end, there are still many specialty labels out there, churning out one release after the other in what cannot be described as anything other than a Golden Age of Soundtracks.    Posted:   Sep 12, 2011 - 8:53 AM     By:   Francis   (Member) You and your team have given me much to rejoice about; "Coma", "Islands in the Stream", "Outland", "Poltergeist", "Star Trek II", "Ron Jones Project", "Beneath, Conquest, Battle - Planet of the Apes", "Omega Man"... to name but a few. I can't wait to see what you have in store with the final 10 titles, but will dread the last one, if only for not being able to look forward to another great title being announced on the quality label FSM. While Lukas' rationalization that the other soundtrack labels have taken up the reigns of preserving classic golden and silver age titles that used to be the sole driving force of FSM is sound, seeing one of "the greats" closing their doors forever just seems like another sign of the inevitable extinction of the limited soundtrack CD business entirely. I have probably a hundred or more FSM titles in my collection, and hope to add many more from the back catalogue before they get taken off the market. I, too, own the very first pressing of the very first "Retrograde" release, The Taking Of Pelham 1-2-3 (which introduced me to a great movie...!), and it amazes me Lukas managed to work his way up from a sixteen-year-old kid writing into Starlog to a man who has preserved over 250 great film scores on CD twenty+ years later. I had to shed a tear when I saw this, this morning. I remember when lukas first came just to visit L.A. and I went to lunch at Butterfields with Lukas and my friend Bart Pierce. What a long time ago. There is no way to underestimate what you have done for the film score community over the years and that legacy, carried on by other labels even after yours has shut down, will hopefully continue for a long time to come. And let's not forget the FSM magazine and this board that has opened up the world for so many of us to finally have a place to share our love of film music with others. I'd say thanks and goodbye, but we know you won't be gone, just working in a different capacity in a world you helped create. In those future endeavors, the best of luck to you!
