So still waiting for a proper release of this. Does anyone know whether there is anything/anyone stopping this being released? Does Mr Zimmer not want it released (other than the tracks on the song album)? Are the rights a complicated mess? Or is it just one of those titles that no-one has gotten around to yet?
Yes, THE FAN I'm much more fond of. Although there's only one Zimmer track on the OST, it DOES run a generous 20 minutes almost, so let's be fair. But perhaps this warrants a bit more.

The suite for The Fan is pretty great, but there's still roughly 45 minutes missing. And the suite had a theme removed from it until the very end of it. I'd also love a booklet with back stories on it since Harry Gregson-Williams said he found Hans passed out while writing it.
But! A League of Their Own... Just tons of great music missing. Very memorable and thematic! I love the big band style along with the softer more emotional moments. I especially like the piano at the end before the credits. Perfect closing music
THE FAN is also famous for being one of Zimmer's favourites of his own work.
Now THAT is interesting! I didn't know that. It's actually my favorite of his. The blend of textures, themes, everything really... It's just fantastic to me.
The Fan is brilliant...that opening theme coupled with Robert de Niro's poem, one of my fondest memories from the cinema in the 90s.
I would love an expansion with liner notes. Zimmer also wrote an underrated song, performed by Terence Trent D'Arby. Hans tried to channel Nine Inch Nails with parts of this score.
A pity this was to become the last time Hans worked with Tony Scott.
Excited and anxious, I await my dream / To escape, applaud and embrace my team / Opening day I always can trust / It's just for this high that I crazily lust / Return of our hero does brighten the days / Just briefly my troubles get lost in the haze / The grace from the field arouses the crowd / Reflects on the days when I was quite proud / I'm more entranced than the average fan / I used to play, you see, and I know I still can / That time I drove the ball with such loft / My exit atop shoulders as they carried me off / This pastime and I just fade into one / Expanded upon from father and son / My boy is young and awkward for now / I just need the time and can show him how / I really am quite close, just a break away / From straightening things out and being okay / I can help my team to regain its glory / With just a little twist to the same old story / Players say now they play for themselves / This causes a burning within me that dwells / The fan is the one who pays for the game / Which bestows all the riches and welcomed fame / The players will listen but really don't hear / All the while just hiding behind an invisible tear / I grow tired now of all this greed / And chart a course to set things free?
Yeah it was interesting hearing these really harsh (pre-Joker) sounds and then these beautiful themes representing a more innocent time. Then you could literally hear Robert De Niro's character descent into madness in the music. And the way his theme ended up being broken into pieces as the movie went on... Just absolutely brilliant.
Sorry, got sidetracked there... But A League of Their Own is great too. Just a unique style you don't hear anymore. Very big and thematically driven. So many great moments.
