I always think of Komeda's death along with Gary McFarland's.

Absolutely. Both tragic and unnecessary. Also sad that McFarland's son, Milo, died of a Heroin overdose in 2002,

When it comes to "Source Material" I'm not convinced anymore, anyone here on the forum knows anything, what treasures might be see the light of day.
Again after MURDER BY DEATH_SHAMUS_DAMNATION ALLEY_ etc.etc. everything is possible.

I'm still hoping for an expanded 'Dance of the Vampires' (UK title)

I'm sure there was a discussion on the search for this a long while back and I thought it had ended up that his widow had the music but wanted too much for the rights.
I remember asking MV about the possibilities of a release round about when they did Rosemary's Baby and I think he seemed to say he'd not really heard of the film so not a great sign if we were hoping Lalaland would sweep in and be the saviour here.

It is my understanding that Komeda's widow provided the tapes for the existing version. It is incomplete, which is no surprise: Musicians are notoriously lousy at archiving their own work.

Thanks Onya...I wasn't sure. Guess that's even less hope for a full release now then. frown

I remember it differently. Somebody here said they had looked together with the widow for the missing material but couldn’t find it. So even worse since the music just seems to be lost…
If I recall the film correctly, there are only 2-3 cues missing but it’s the music from the entire last act. And those were the most spectacular ones. The cue for the chase sequence through the halls is magnificent!

That's interesting, because most or all of the missing music from "Rosemary's Baby" was from the final half-hour or so of that film.
