150 minutes sounds terrific, yet I wonder why they choose to make the deluxe edition digital only. Since digital sale is already much higher than physical, wouldn’t it make more sense to make the cd release even more interesting? They did the same with the Mad Max score. Nevertheless, great to hear so much music will be released.

Did I miss something? Is there any info saying the soundtrack is digital only?

It's 2022. You should not expect any score release for new media to come out on the CD format. If it does, it is a rare exception, not the norm.
Sad truth. Yet, considering "LOTR The Rings Of Power:" is an Amazon production, there is a chance (hopefully) that McCreary's label be given license for a physical CD release, since Sparks & Shadows storefront is exclusively hosted on Amazon.com

From Jon Broxton on FB: "Today I have been mostly listening to Bear McCreary's score for the new Lord of the Rings TV series, 'The Rings of Power'. And you should too, because it's magnificent. First impressions: beautiful, powerful, energetic, complex, elegant, sophisticated. It's very clearly Bear's music, and is compositionally different from Shore's, but it also clearly lives in the same emotional world, the same sonic world, with comparable orchestrations, and so on. It's really impressive stuff. Just don't fall into the "it's not Shore so it must be inferior" trap."
Okay, this is certainly some really good music. But this is nowhere near the quality of Shore's original work.
Agreed, based on the two pieces we've heard so far. Don't get me wrong, I love McCreary's work. I still listen to his BSG music quite regularly. Even his music for Caprica was great. But I really hoped to see more involvement from Shore.
Still, I love both composers and look forward to hearing the rest of the album.
Really enjoying what I've heard so far... although I bet Howard Shore and John Williams weren't expecting to be still writing TV themes into their 70s and 90s respectively ;-)
