Oh yeah, I remember him. What a dick he was! Didn't you let his tyres down?
I know, Bruce has a tree house - lets ask his mum if we can go there!

Only an "adult" would read that book length post above

Meanwhile, going back to The Wild Bunch, I had forgotten that it was almost all filmed in Mexico, not in America.

Here is another bit of trivia I learned last night not related to TWB. I was watching Montgomery Clift in a movie and decided to read about him on the Internet. His first Hollywood movie was Red River. He had a big part in that movie. Pretty good movie for his motion picture debut.

Welcome, Isabell. Nice to have another female join FSM. Really cool that you like westerns.

I loved the book but could have done without the discussion of Peckinpah's, er, medical issues...

I received the Cinema Retro Movie Classics magazine special of The Wild Bunch today. Wow! It looks like thousands of pictures, interviews, tons of stuff, it's going to take me ages to get through it (I'm in no rush).

...& I just ordered the book, just over £13 delivered, not bad.

I don't believe in "the best" or "greatest" of anything. Besides, no dinosaurs, no sale.

Hey Bill, thanks for posting that youtube. My only problem is that the people in the youtube are old. Now how did that happen? wink

Prices are getting cheaper at Amazon, so I may just order it. I was going to order this book through my library, but the library closed. Should open pretty soon.

I was reading customer reviews, and one reviewer said the author really knocked Bernstein's score for The Magnificent Seven and praised Fielding's score.

Knocking Bernstein's score is sacrilegious. It is heresy. It is traitorous and reflects the IQ of an amoeba. I may have to skip over that part so that I don't track down the author and flog him.

That seems fair.
Both genius, just different approaches for different types of film.

Bloody hell, I forgot I'd bought these. I think I'll start reading the book.

...& if only The Valley Of Gwangi was as good as that poster!

joan hue, I now know where you got a tolerance for blood in your entertainment. Or maybe you just read Macbeth too many times.

Whatever the case, The Wild Bunch and all its passion from its ultimately doomed men is a cut above most other "westerns". In fact, it's the remnants of romance in those doomed characters that drive them to avenge Angel's execution by Mapache.

They bring on their own demise, rather than suffer one imposed on them by "civilization".
