Hi Jason; I am not sure if you read everything I wrote two posts above: As I did state that — I am doing an analysis on all the music which is presented in the – ‘Sabrina’ – (1995)… film score.

So; that would mean that: — I already know exactly which cue belongs where etc… You don’t need to prove yourself… by mentioning the party cues – ‘Call Me Irresponsible’ – or – ‘When Joanna Loved Me’ – because — like most fans of this film score – I know exactly where the music cues belong in the film.

In regards to my post about the – ‘Love Letters’ – cue which was used in the second – ‘Party Sequence’ – of the film… I was hoping for a broader response on that mentioned cue… but I never got the answer which I had craved for.

Which brings me to the song — ‘(In The) – Moonlight’ — which is performed by – ‘Sting’ – on both soundtrack releases… as well as the end credits in the film…

That particular music cue has legal issues – (apparently) – which is that – on Sting’s contract it clearly states that – ‘no other performer – (with a vocal track) – other than ‘Sting’ himself – is allowed to be presented on the – Sabrina soundtrack CD – or future releases of the score for that matter’...
Well Jason; – (somehow) – that concludes a theory I might have had that:

Since – (on the La La Land Records Release of – ‘Sabrina’) – the party instrumentals didn’t feature the Michael Dees vocals on the song — ‘(In The) – Moonlight’ —

(Perhaps) – it could be a factor; that John Williams might not have allowed – THE FILM VERSION – of – ‘How Can I Remember?’ – with the Michael Dees vocals to be included on the expanded release… as it could have been decided via an agreement that – THEY WERE NOT GOING TO INCLUDE ANY VOCAL PARTY TRACKS – on the expanded release —

…(with the exception of the album release of – ‘How Can I Remember?’ – of course)…
And that is perfectly fine with me Jason… all I was trying state above was the absolute fact that the album release of – ‘How Can I Remember?’ – is not presented in the film…
THE VOCAL TRACK MIGHT BE THE SAME – BUT – THE BACKGROUND ORCHESTRAL MUSIC – DEFINITELY BELONGS TO TRACK #13 — ( CD #2 ):

· ‘How Can I Remember: Party Instrumental Number 01’ —

As for my opinion… that it might have been John Williams decision not to include the – FILM VERSION – of – ‘How Can I Remember?’ – on the expanded release… That is only simple speculation – maybe someone else can come up with a more convincing reason as to why it wasn’t released on the on the La La Land Records Release of – ‘Sabrina’…
Anyway;

THAT – was the kind of response I was hoping to get… I wasn’t expecting that someone who is one of the Administrators at the JWFan Network — to get such publicity incorrect!

‘How Can I Remember: Party Instrumental Number 01’ —

…was used as the background source of orchestral music… on both party sequences in the film…

I do stand corrected in my above post when I stated that both instrumentals were used… THEY WEREN’T.

I was using a mobile device when I posted that message; so I didn’t bother getting into the finer detail; as all I was really publicizing was the absence of the album track in the film. I didn’t expect to get the kind of response which you had posted above Jason.
ANYWAY – THE ISSUE IS THAT THE CD VERSION OF – ‘HOW CAN I REMEMBER?’ – IS NOT USED IN THE FINAL FILM… unless there is an alternate cut of the film – perhaps in an alternate dimension…(?) --- Maybe… who knows?

Also Jason; in regards to what you wrote in that last email: — IT IS THE OTHER WAY ROUND… (!)

The Party Instrumental Number #2 – WAS NOT USED IN THE FILM – not at all; it was only Party Instrumental Number #1… which was used on both occasions…

· THE OPENING PIANO NOTES – should be the sufficient proof you need for that verdict.

You will need to be listening to the CD version; and have the film version of – ‘How Can I Remember’ – on hand to compare the both of them Jason. — (You can do this with Audacity Software – as that might be your best bet).

And finally… here are my personal notes; on the below mentioned track…which I am sharing online with everyone:

— HOW CAN I REMEMBER? / PARTY INSTRUMENTAL NUMBER #1 – 03:19 – (Track #13 --- CD #2) —

· Even though; the soundtrack presentation of this cue; omits Michael Dees’ vocals – it is this version of – ‘How Can I Remember?’ – which is used in the opening sections of the film. (As well as the second occurrence of this song when Linus Larrabee dances with Sabrina)…

· The soft piano introduction can be heard; when Sabrina Fairchild jumps out of the tree; and says – ‘Hello David’ – and he brushes her aside when he tells her – ‘I Thought I heard somebody’ – as he then proceeds to go to the tennis courts with his new date.

· We then get to actually see – Michael Dees – performing this song at the party; as Sabrina watches David dance with his date – to the presentation of this instrumental track.

· In the film… whilst Sabrina talks to her father; the Michael Dees vocals fade away; and only the instrumental version – (which is this very cue I am analysing) – is heard in the film; and it also seems to disappear from the film; as Sabrina walks away; and her father proceeds to close the door.

· Unable to take it any longer; she darts back home; and her father reminds her about the European experience she is about to have in Paris. Meanwhile; in the background; the song can still be heard; even as Sabrina sits down on her bed. As she sits on the bed; the first three lines of – ‘How Can I Remember’ – as sung by Michael Dees; get reprised again.

· SPECIAL NOTE: — I have tried my best to attempt – recreating the film version of this cue – using Audacity software… please note; that in the film; the song only gets sung – up to the line: — ‘When then and now – meet somehow’ — (the last two words are hardly heard in the film… with better sound equipment; you might hear the other sections of the lyrics – but only scarcely)…

Anyway Jason; please be mindful; that I wouldn’t be posting such things online; if it wasn’t actual fact.

The people – DO – have a right to know – the facts about what music was used in the film; and what music wasn’t…

I am using Audacity software to create a film version of the entire soundtrack… (I don’t include the music which wasn’t featured in the film; which is how I know that the album version of – ‘How Can I Remember?’ – was not used in the theatrical release of the film… unless you are posting about an alternate version of the film which has not been mentioned anywhere online etc)…

Anyway; in regards to my personal – ‘Sabrina’ – project:

This idea had started off with me as I was listening and trying to combine – all the Party Sequences – in the exact same order as which they appear in the film etc… and then I decided…

That I would go ahead – and recreate the entire film score… in the exact same way which is presented in the film… (The Larrabee Work March was a tough theme; as that theme is all spliced up all over the film – with many cuts)…

Each track I re-created – (Using Audacity Software) – and I also added in a subtitle after the cue that it is an – ‘Attempted Film Version’…

– So I do hope that you give me a little more credit Jason; and not try to belittle someone who is a total fan of this score – (and film)…

· Hence: The album version of – ‘How Can I Remember?’ – (as performed by Michael Dees) – is not used in the film Jason.

Or; if you think I am wrong; then you might want to prove it to me by isolating the dialogue from the DVD…

· Which is something which I have already done…

(Once I read your over-confident post) – as who knows… I could be wrong (?) — as after all said and done – you are one of the Administrators at the JWFan Network… and I have seen your name on certain CD releases where you do get thanked! So I might as well go back; and check it out again…

As all that time I had spent; could have been wasted… and then one day – I decided to type up something online which is wrong… Wow! How embarrassing!

Unfortunately Jason; I don’t know how to post my mp3 version on line for you… I am not computer literate… (I don’t even know how to post pictures online)…

Anyway Jason; the new MP3 track which I had created from the DVD edition itself – after I read your insulting post – is much clearer… as there is no dialogue heard; and you do get to hear the saxophone much clearer… (the album version doesn’t feature any saxophone Jason)… which propels me to inform you that:

I sincerely apologise to inform you that:

— You are incorrect Jason… by posting above that:
The album version of – ‘How Can I Remember?’ – was used in the film version… Your short simple replies reflect that you were oblivious to what I had written above… (that you were unaware that I am currently working on an analysis on the entire – ‘Sabrina’ – score).

In conclusion Jason: — The instrumental track for the film version of — ‘How Can I Remember?’ — which features Michael Dees’ vocal… was this cue:

· HOW CAN I REMEMBER? / PARTY INSTRUMENTAL NUMBER #1 – 03:19 — #CD 2.

And yes; it was used for both versions which appear in the film…(i.e. the second time we hear it is when Linus dances with Sabrina).

You are incorrect Jason LeBlanc – Unless you can provide the proof on You Tube or something; as you might have an alternate cut of the film?

I won’t be contributing to this thread anymore; as it is pointless.

But you might want to make up for your oblivious error; by perhaps posting information to: —

· Which scene in the 1995 – ‘Sabrina’ – film belongs to the unreleased cue: – ‘THE PRINCESS GROWS’ — (?)

I'm sure everything you've discovered about the film versions is correct, and I applaud you for digging into a second-by-second analysis to get everything straight!

Apologies if the information I provided wasn't quite right or if I misunderstood any of your questions. Good luck with your project and I am glad you are enjoying the new release!

Lovely score. Unfortunately Track 34 will not play. Rest of the tracks are fine. So frustrating.

That is frustrating! The alternate of "Linus' New Life" is VERY different from the film/album version!

Try cleaning the disc, and using different ripping hardware/software. If it still doesn't rip, contact LLLR, and they might mail you a replacement disc.

Interesting. On my copy tracks 30 and 31 (disc 1) didn’t play. Not on my cd player and not on my computer after having ripped the cd. A real shame. I’ve asked Music Box for a replacement disc but so far nothing.
