Varese send me a shipping confirmation yesterday with a tracking number...

Ordered from Amazon. $2.00 cheaper on Amazon (plus free shipping) than on Varese's site.
Yeah, you go ahead and order directly from the record labels, I will save the $6.50.

Re: Mr. Young's reference to the Universal black and white horrors. A number of years ago, I had the pleasure of sitting on a panel at UCLA sponsored by the Society of Film Music (then known as the Society for the Preservation of Film Music) on the subject of fantasy, science fiction snd horror pictures. Among the other participants were Christopher Young discussing his work and our own Lukas discussing John Williams. I was there to talk about Hans J. Salter, and I did something Hans himself had once done in a similarly scholarly situation: screened a scene from one of his films without the underscore and then with it. I chose the first werewolf transformation and murder from FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN. The difference in impact, of course, was striking, and I loved Christopher Young's assessment of this demonstration, in words which could well be the motto for the Film Music Society or, for that matter, FSM: "No music, no movie."

I ordered mine via Amazon Canada so I'm expecting it in a week or two - sometimes it takes a bit for them to get stock after the US release. Happy to wait.

My cd is on the way. Did someone got his copy yet and can comment his first impressions?

Mine arrived today. For me, the standout cues are TWISTED PIXEL and WILSON’S HEART (which seems to be an extended version of TWISTED PIXEL). There are some interesting things here, but I found it to be a tough listening experience overall. I’ll have to give it a few more spins to see where I land on this.

Quick question: do the liner notes say anything about where this was recorded? Thanks!

I don’t see any information.

I listened to it on Spotify. Definitely Young at his most out there, albeit with a very limited budget. It sounded mostly synthesized to my ears, with a few soloists here and there. Probably not something I'll ever return to.

Christopher Young just added this letter to his FB page, it's the liner notes for the album that didn't get in time for the album manufacturing:

Couldn't Varese have waited and included the above from Christopher Young in the cd booklet ?
We unfortunately don't get enough new Young releases and you would have thought this should have been inside
*sigh

If you download and save the image, and then print it in Windows using the 5x7 size, it comes out still readable and can be cut so that it can be slid into the CD jewel case. It's a nice touch I'll add to mine when it arrives. A personal note from the composer. wink

I finally picked this up. Really enjoying it - has all the ingredients that make me adore Young's work. Good contrast with big orchestral gothic action and creepy experimental stuff. I was put off by the weaksauce cover artwork for a long time. I regret.
