After ImageShack and Photobucket went to a pay format, yet another free image hosting site has gone down. For the past two days, this message has greeted those who wish to post photos at postimg.org:
postimg.ORG domain is locked by Registry, no prior notice. While we hope to resolve the issue, we chose postimg.CC as our new home. Please update codes embedded in your websites.
Any old photo links that aren't working can currently be salvaged by substituting "postimg.CC" for the "postimg.org" in the file name. But no new images can be posted.
As I said, you can't post any new images anywhere, either at postimg.org or at postimg.CC.
But if you have previously posted items that are not appearing (I had two in the past few days), you can make them appear by going into your posted link on this board and substituting "postimg.CC" for the "postimg.org" in the link.
They shouldn't have advertised a new site that wasn't online yet.
Well, if they hadn't mentioned it, I'd have two images on this board that wouldn't now be appearing. But, I made their suggested change and now they are appearing. You can't have everything.
I don't disagree that their message was cryptic and less than totally informative. I was just pushing back against the notion that they shouldn't have said anything at all unless they had a fully functioning new site.
Well I guess the internet doesn't want me posting images anymore. I'm not paying to get my Photobucket posts back, and I thankfully cut way back on posting images even though I signed up with postimg. This is ridiculous at this point.
