I like Poledouris' Robocop theme, but it's a boring listen otherwise. Rosenman's underscore is more engaging for me.

So convince me to like this score.

Ok otg - here goes. It sounds to me like you mostly don't like the score because you wanted more Poledouris. Which I get, the original was my first and still my favorite score by Basil. But as with ST IV, I'm actually delighted when a different composer gets a chance to work on a franchise I already enjoy. Musical continuity is nice (Horner and Goldsmith in Star Trek for example), but so is a fresh take.

So liking Rosenman as you do, all you have to do is let go of your wish for Basil P. to have done the score. I'm just as glad he didn't, because (as I keep saying) I despise the movie, and I don't think a different score would have worked better than what Rosenman did, typical stylistic tropes and all. And this way we got one more big Rosenman score - released with the film no less! (Only happened three times once my collecting started in the mid 1970's.)
