"South by Southeast" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ8X1hirXZ0 Highlights: 5:16 in. 8:09 in. That's half the episode score. "The Competitive Edge" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDELjlw0vxk (NEW LINK as of May 28, 2019) Highlights: 1:26 in. 42:05 in. This episode gave us the only spin-off series from the show, "Richie Brockelman, Private Eye". Short-lived. All episodes were done by Post & Carpenter; I didn't find any score worth mentioning in the spin-off series. Since there is so little scoring in each episode, I think 2CD's might cover everything I mentioned; three at the most. We could get nearly the full scores to the whole show in just a few short sets.

SEASON 1:
All episode scores are by Post & Carpenter unless otherwise noted. "Backlash of the Hunter" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJL8DagSZiI Highlights: 0:00 in. Pilot version of the opening credits. 25:45 in. 1:00:52 in. "The Kirkoff Case" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6lsxml Highlights: 1:58 in. 40:55 in. "The Dark and Bloody Ground" By: Dick DeBenedictis https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6lsxmm This is DeBendictis' only effort for the series. Highlights: 9:30 in. 11:10 in. 18:16 in. A brief, what I assume is a knowing nod, by Dick with the two-note chime from "Duel" (done two or three times in that score), for an 18-wheeler that tried to run Rockford off the road and kill him. * 29:20 in. 39:23 in. 49:21 in. * = Point of interest, there was a TV movie called "Murder by Natural Causes", where Dick used the same xylophone playing technique from "Duel". Nothing there really worth releasing, by the way. "The Countess" By: Artie Kane https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6lsxmn Highlights: 2:06 in. 28:24 in. 37:40 in. I find myself often, what few encounters I've had, disappointed by music by Artie Kane, but this is an instance where I am not. While not up to the same enjoyment level as Post & Carpenter, I'd certainly have been okay if he did an episode now and then. NO [GOOD] LOAD FOUND. "Exit Prentiss Carr" By: Artie Kane This is Kane's final effort for the series. "Tall Woman in Red Wagon" By: ????? Highlights: 39:33 in. 49:22 in. There are only six short cues in the episode and no composer was credited; I suspect somebody was not happy with the way the score was used and requested his or her name be removed from the credits. As I don't see any other composers on BMI or ASCAP who haven't worked with Post & Carpenter, I'm assuming that this was by Kane and he either walked or was fired (since he scored the previous two episodes). "This Case Is Closed: Part 1" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6r8qwk Highlights: 2:00 in. 5:08 in. Also featuring the super rare appearance (in episodic TV scoring) of angklungs. Almost seven minutes of goodness. 15:36 in. More angklung use. 19:40 in. 23:29 in. 29:01 in. 33:45 in. 36:45 in. 38:14 in. 39:48/42:20 in. 49:33 in. This is the longest episode score I have encountered thus far. Rockford: "Would I be too nosey to ask what you guys want?" "Shut up and get in." "You can't be that stupid." Rockford: "Oh, sure I can; I've been doing stupid things all day." "This Case Is Closed: Part 2" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6rets7 A seven-and-a-half minute recap! I think there's more recap after the opening credits! Highlights: 9:36 in. 10:57/15:50 in. And after the commercial break (with more angklung use). 28:57/31:06 in. 34:55 in. 40:09 in. 42:09 in. 47:10 in. "The Big Ripoff " https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6lwg5c Highlights: 1:38 in. Four minutes of nearly of laid-back score only. 18:51 in. 19:34 in. 22:11 in. 25:25 in. 30:00 in. 42:20 in. "Find Me If You Can" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6m6qjv Highlights: 1:37 in. 19:40 in. 27:45 in. 27:16 in. 40:37 in. Post/Carpenter have used this three-note motif that sounds on part of the line fro m a "on the road again" before; it can be found, for example, in an good cue from an episode of "Hunter" (yes, it's in one of the suites I made on my Youtube channel). 47:47 in. Rockford: "I like what I'm doing. Well, maybe not at the moment." "In Pursuit of Carol Thorne" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6m6qju Highlights: 2:49 in. 4:55 in. 18:36 in. 29:02 in. 41:45/43:17 in. 46:48 in. "The Dexter Crisis" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6m6qjw Highlights: 1:37 in. 6:04 in. 24:49 in. 28:52 in. 31:04 in. 38:44 in. A similar quick guitar playing was used in some quick to a good and unreleased score by Post to a based-on-a-true-story film "Running Brave"; hopefully some label puts that one out. "Caledonia - It's Worth a Fortune!" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5rigxz Highlights: 1:59 in. 21:55 in. 26:48 in. 27:34/31:54 in. 43:12 in. Rockford: "You apologize, all the time." "I do?" Rockford: "Yeah." "I'm sorry." Man, season one episodes sure do have a lot more scoring than later seasons. Just to cover the cues I cited, it might takes six or seven CD's; seems unlikely to happen -- and this is only just over half the episodes of the season. I think, maybe if something like an approach taken with the Quinn Martin Collection series, where the music of this season is spaced out on volumes with cues from random other short-lived series and failed pilots -- something to encourage more purchases both ways.

Continuing SEASON 1:
All scores from this point on are by Post & Carpenter. "Profit and Loss, Part 1: Profit" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6mfsj9 Highlights: 1:42 in. 12:28 in. 22:59 in. 47:08 in. "Profit and Loss, Part 2: Profit" Highlights: 12:07 in. 22:36 in. About 24:45 in. 34:10 in. 39:51 in. "Aura Lee, Farewell" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6mkure Highlights: 3:29 in. 32:40 in. "Sleight of Hand" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6mkurg Highlights: 1:42 in. 17:11 in. 42:13 in. 48:05 in. NO [GOOD] LOADS FOUND. "Counter Gambit" "Claire" "Say Goodbye to Jennifer" "Charlie Harris at Large" "The Four Pound Brick" "Just by Accident" "Roundabout" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6mu9ok Highlights: 5:33 in. 28:40 in. 42:47 in. 45:20 in. Some conga action. I didn't cite 19:09 in, because it sounds like a tracked cue from an earlier episode. That concludes all the episode I can do for season one right now.

SEASON 2:
The opening credits are weird. It has a grungy electric guitar and other changes and about the last ten seconds in, it suddenly cuts to the previous version only with a slightly different ending. "The Aaron Ironwood School of Success" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6mxp3d Highlights: 3:19 in. 26:58 in. 35:54 in. 41:54 in. "The Farnsworth Stratagem" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6mxp3f Highlights: 17:37 in. 20:43 in. A nice country-fied version of the opening credits. 26:10 in. 31:00 in. For the guys here: 35:00 in. You're welcome. "Gearjammers, Part 1" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6mxp3e Highlights: 1:42/9:52 in. 14:15 in. 17:25/25:03 in. 27:05 in. A laid-back country-fied version of the opening credits. 29:56 in. 33:01 in. 39:48 in. 44:17 in. That's nearly all the score. NO [GOOD] LOAD FOUND. "Gearjammers, Part 2" "The Deep Blue Sleep" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6n4zd6 Highlights: 8:43 in. 17:50 in. 41:19 in. "The Great Blue Lake Land and Development Company" https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6n4zd7 That has to be one of the longest episode titles I have ever seen of any series. Highlights: 1:41 in. 5:14/6:53 in. 8:55 in. 12:28 in. 15:17 in. NO [GOOD] LOAD FOUND. "The Real Easy Red Dog" "Resurrection in Black & White" "Chicken Little Is a Little Chicken" "2 Into 5.56 Won't Go" "Pastoria Prime Pick" "The Reincarnation of Angie" "The Girl in the Bay City Boys Club " "The Hammer of C Block " "The No-Cut Contract" "A Portrait of Elizabeth" "Joey Blue Eyes " "In Hazard" "The Italian Bird Fiasco" "Where's Houston? " "Foul on the First Play " "A Bad Deal in the Valley " That's it for season two.

Nearly Finishing SEASON 2:
I still can't find a load for the second part of "Gearjammers"; only episode missed. Again, all episodes from season two onward are by Post & Carpenter. Some loads are missing part of the opening credits, but I don't link to these to watch, but to hear the score I cited, so I am not interested if loads are incomplete (see "Matlock" as a prime example). "Chicken Little Is a Little Chicken" (2.8) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvnQcO4TF_g Highlights: 0:56 in. 11:36 in. There are only four cues in the episode; I skipped two short ones. Jim Rockford: "It's probably a little low on gas, pal." (LOL) Jim's Dad: "What's going on here?" Jim: "I don't know." Jim's Dad: "Who are those guys?" Jim: "I don't know." Jim's Dad: "Well, what do ya know? Jim: "Nothin'." "2 Into 5.56 Won't Go " (2.10) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gztuieizg08 Highlights: 1:45 in. Joining a cue already in progress. 22:32 in. 36:20 in. Another short episode score. "Pastoria Prime Pick" (2.11) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9axbXX8nINc Highlights: 0:11/13:00 in. 35:56 in. 42:48 in. "The Reincarnation of Angie" (2.12) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOd4q_0YutE Highlights: 1:20 in. That's the only cue I'd take from the episode, if I were compiling a set of season two scoring. "The Girl in the Bay City Boys Club" (2.13) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HAntHYhOH8 Highlights: 2:51 in. 4:32/6:47 in. 42:40 in. About three minutes of chase music. angel: "Saying 'Hello' to you turns into a high-risk proposition." "The No-Cut Contract" (2.15) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmQJXvT40X8 Highlights: 5:07 in. 7:03 in. 40:45 in. Guest-starring Dick Butkis as himself. I think this episode missed the chance to include more Dick in it, and include Dick Army and Dick Trickle. And have Dick DeBendictis score it. "A Portrait of Elizabeth" (2.16) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lncelWWXARc Highlights: 0:11 in. 14:49 in. 19:18 in. "In Hazard " (2.18) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4rXA-ouKxY Highlights: 8:39 in. 10:24 in. 24:23 in. 29:05 in. "The Italian Bird Fiasco" (2.19) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW0n3vkSsrU Highlights: 15:01 in. 17:39 in. 40:10 in. "Where's Houston?" (2.20) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lANyi7c803A Highlights: About 5:10 in. 8:08 in. 28:49 in. 34:00 in. 43:53 in. If I were compiling a set of season two scoring, I'd probably skip most of this. "Foul on the First Play" (2.21) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQM-dI-yVCs Highlights: 1:03 in. 4:24 in. 31:50 in. "A Bad Deal in the Valley " (2.22) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK4CNHAwvi4 Highlights: 4:43 in. 16:31 in. 29:00 in.

Concluding SEASON 4:
Doubling back to the only episodes I missed from this season. NOTE: This website is safe to use. It's very unlikely, however, the videos will play in Internet Explorer. "Beamer's Last Case" https://www.solie.org/alibrary/RockfordFiles_401BeamersLastCase.html Highlights: 1:39 in. 3:28 in. 19:22 in. 34:39 in. 43:49 in. That's all but two short cues and one long source cue. "Hotel of Fear" https://www.solie.org/alibrary/RockfordFiles_410HotelofFear.html Highlights: 1:39 in. 13:19 in. 14:13 in. 17:21 in. (0:31) 27:11 in. That's everything but three very short outtro cues. Please note: I am assuming the opening summarizations are not original pieces but track jobs.
