"All About Eve (1950) is really all about the spoken word. Were the dialogue-driven narrative absent of this tempestuous quality, the result would be as still as the fruit in a Cézanne painting." More here including (updated) Tuesday (October 1, 2019) evening's showtime information throughout the U.S.:

All About Eve (1950) is really all about the spoken word.

Arthur, based upon your recommendation, I watched this film. You are so correct. The dialogue was dense and brilliant. The acting was superb. I kept wondering how the actors could memorize all of the dialogue. It was brilliantly written. I certainly learned a lot about the fine art of manipulation.

New Criterion Collection release of All About Eve on blu-ray is a keeper. Video and audio does the black and white cinematography justice. Two fine commentaries as well as some other extras.
Fun interview with Bette Davis on the Dick Cavett show. AMC Backstory documentary covers the making of and legacy of the film. There is also a Cavett interview of Gary Merrill, a supporting player and one of Davis' husbands. Good documentary on Joseph L. Mankiewicz also included. You can pick it up at 1/2 price if you act quickly for the semi-annual sale at Barnes & Noble. Now Voyager also releases this month on Criterion.
