THE TURNING---trailer released for the horror movie based on THE TURNING OF THE SCREW.

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER---a summation of Anthony Daniels speaking at a Paris press conference said he doubts that fans will boycott THE RISE OF SKYWALKER because of unhappiness with Rian Johnson's THE LAST JEDI, “[He] is aware of the fan division, reads and hears that some fans are saying they will never watch TROS, says he doesn’t believe it because this film is the final one, and he believes they’ll be first in line… [He] says everyone will be satisfied with the ending, called JJ [Abrams] a brilliant mind as well as Chris Terrio, as they really gathered all the scattered storyline pieces and concluded them. Says there is something for everyone in this movie from darkside lovers to light side.”

HALLOWEEN KILLS---photo released of Charles Cyphers returning as Sheriff Leigh Brackett from the original movie. Also, Haddonfield Memorial Hospital will return as a setting for the sequel.

MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE---Jennifer Aniston joined Martin Scorsese in taking a jab at the box office dominance of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “It wasn’t until the last couple of years when these streaming services were just sort of exploding with this amount of quality that I actually started to think, ‘Wow, that’s better than what I just did,’ and then you’re seeing what’s available out there and it’s just diminishing and diminishing in terms of, it’s big Marvel movies. Or things that I’m not just asked to do or really that interested in living in a green screen.”
She added, “Its changed so much. I think we would so love to have the era of Meg Ryan come back. I just think it would be nice to go into a movie theater, sit cozy. I think we should have a resurgence. Let’s get the TERMS OF ENDEARMENT back out there. You know, HEAVEN CAN WAIT, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, BLAZING SADDLES, GOODBYE GIRL.”

CAPTAIN MARVEL---Brie Larson was asked when the sequel will be underway, “No. I don’t really know what job I’m going to do next, which is very exciting. I don’t even know what my life’s gonna be!.”
She also commented on the considerable fan criticism of the movie, its lead character being a woman and Larson's political views, “They did? Oh. I didn’t even know. I don’t have time for it, you know? The things that I have extra time to really look at are, like: Am I eating healthy food? Am I drinking water? Am I meditating? Have I called my mom today?… I have genuinely never needed to look at the internet to explain to me who I am. I’m extremely committed to that in my day-to-day life! There is really nothing more pleasurable to me than observing my mind. And interrogating myself. It is a thing I’ve done since I was a child. And I will do for as long as I can.”

THE BLACKSMITH---Pierre Morrel (TAKEN) will direct the movie based on the graphic novel. Ben Ripley (SOURCE CODE) is the writer.

VIOLENCE OF ACTION---Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Gillian Jacobs star in this movie about a disgraced ex-Marine and his mercenary special ops team, who are on a mission in Berlin where he becomes a fugitive and must find out who betrayed him.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE---Sony Pictures head Tom Rothman is in talks to offer the movie to Netflix instead of a theater release.

MINDHUNTER---South Korean director Bong Joon-ho said he's receptive to directing an episode of MINDHUNTER, “I’m very familiar with the original book because when I was working on MEMORIES OF MURDER, I studied a lot about American serial killers and, of course, that book is written by the first criminal profiler. So it was basically like the bible. I’m very familiar with the serial killers featured in that book, as well.”

THE LAST LETTER FROM YOUR LOVER---Felicity Jones, Shailene Woodley and Callum Turner will star in this movie based on the novel.

TRIVIA---Al Pacino wanted to play the lead role of hockey player/manager Reggie Dunlop in SLAP SHOT, but the role went to Paul Newman. Pacino said, “But because George Roy Hill was doing it, I couldn’t do it. I should have made that movie. That was my kind of character—the hockey player. Paul Newman is a great actor, it’s not a matter of that. I read that script and passed it on to George Roy Hill that I wanted to talk to him about it, and all he said was, ‘Can he ice skate?’ That’s all he was interested in, whether I could ice skate or not. That was a certain kind of comment. He didn’t want to talk about anything else. It was like he was saying, 'What the hell, it could work with anybody.’ The way in which he responded said to me he wasn’t interested.”

In fairness it was stroke of genius using Paul Newman. He came under a lot of stick for a movie with so much swearing but it was funny and he played part very well.

Anniston & Scorsese talk butt-hurt again smile, they know most directors today are jokes, all they really see is lazy efforts - hype ya sequels or movies with actors just left college, Marvel crashed there parties there end of year jolly-ups. There facts they don't comprehend, cool.

That movie is legendary for countless reasons.
And sure, Ontkean's butt qualifies--it's all inclusive!

For a similar good time, all of you should check out "Goon".
It mines the same territory.
It's still on Netflix, I think.

Ive seen Slap Shot a lot on commercial television in the early 70's. I recall laughing my butt off but hardly remember anything about it today. I don't think Ive ever seen it unedited.

Considering the film was released in 1977, I highly doubt the film was being shown on television in the early 70’s, early 80’s perhaps, but not early 70’s.

Wow, I thought it was an early 70's film! Weird. Maybe I did see it uncut on HBO or something.

Thanks a lot! Now I'm going to have to HAVE one, too. You wonder why my basement is such a mess? At least it won't cost much . . .
