Years ago I missed out on getting John Scott's, "Screen Themes" CD (on Varese). That CD contained the end credits from Scott's own score to "Shoot to Kill".

After seeing the artwork on the various releases on both LP & CD renditions of "Screen Themes" , I noticed the timing of the track varied. On some of the releases the end title is listed as 2.45 and yet on others, it is listed as running as long as 3.39.

Is this simply a typo or did Scott record two different versions for this Varese album(s)?

The second question I have concerns the 2 CD set called "Best of Adventure" released on Cinerama/Edel in 1994 (some of these tracks were later licenced by Silva Screen). I have some the Silva tracks but not most of from Edel release.

Can anyone tell me the proper credits (what conductor/orchestra) were used on the particular tracks on this Edel set? I would be interested to know the conductor/orchestra on John Scott's "Phantom of the Sun" track. I have searched everywhere on the net (SoundtrackCollector, Discogs, etc) and I have been unable to find any credits for the Edel set.

Both Nic Raine and the late William Motzing shared conducting duties and the orchestras were the City of Prague Philharmonic and the Hungarian Studio Orchestra.

If anyone can provided me with any info on these two questions, I would be most grateful.

Thank You,

Jay Cox

The VARESE recording runs 3:39, more then likely it's typo

The Edel Recordings done in the 90's were done by William Motzing conducting City of Prague Philharmonic which included "Phantom of the Sun"

I had the Colosseum edition at the time, then the SLC and Varèse éditions and they all contain the same recording. I don't remember the Colosseum actually, since it was a long time ago, but was not surprised when I replaced it with the SLC, so I think it's just a typo.

It's a much better performance than the OST, which really disappointed me when it was released by Intrada. The End Credits on the Intrada release sounds compressed.

The John Scott recording with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is really superb.

Thank you very much, Ford. I really appreciate your timely and knowledgeable response.

And the same to you, Bruno. I think you sold me on the Scott/RPO Varese album.

Have a great weekend, gentlemen!
