Okay, say some eccentric rich score lover (yeah right) wants to create a composer Rushmore. But you only have four heads to chose from, so who would you chose? And since it's fictional but somebody will undoubtedly point out later compseors we don't yet know the fame of, maybe in the future said fictional mountain-carved space will make room for more heads.

Remember, this would be a long-lasting testament to real composers, so don't come in here and say you'd put Zimmer, Junkie XL, Giorgio Morodor, and Balfe on it. Let's be serious. Give a reason, if you want for one or more composers.

In no particular order:

1. John Williams. Long after he's dead, much like certain classical composers, people will still be playing his work and listening to his work on recorded mediums.

2. Jerry Goldsmith.

3. Bernard Herrmann. As long as people continue to appreciate good old films, I think he'll not fade away because of scores/films like "Psycho" and "North by Northwest".

4. Alfred Newman.

Yes, we did. Not too long ago:

As I said there, I'd probably put Williams, Morricone, Zimmer and Herrmann on it, due to their position in film music history (my personal favourites would obviously be a tad different; not sure I would have Morricone and Herrmann on it).

Completely forgot about that thread. Couldn't even find it in a Google search (I looked to make sure there wasn't a thread about it already, before I posted).

Boggan's noggin forgot about Graham's noggin thread.
Perhaps 4 heads aren't better than 2 heads after all.

If these 2 threads get merged, then can we nominate 8 composers? big grin

4 faces for Mt. ProduceMore:

Douglass Fake
Lukas Kendall
Bruce Kimmel
Robert Townson

The was a 5th space planned for André Previn, but zooba told us that there is an 'idiot-in-charge' who supplied the sculptor with images of Leonard Slatkin instead ...

John Williams
James Horner
Jerry Goldsmith
John Barry

That would be my personal monument. But if Congress authorized one, it would be Williams and three Golden Age composers.

I'd go for:

Elmer Bernstein
Jerry Goldsmith
James Horner
John Williams

But surely deserving of a monument with their heads in stone would also have to be:

Alfred Newman
Miklos Rozsa
Bernard Herrmann

These 7 Maestros are in my Top Ten All-Time Favorite Film Composers and rounding off the ten would be:

Alex North
Dave Grusin
Bill Conti

and Danny Elfman, if I can turn it up to 11!

If you're goin' there, you would need Nick Redman.
