I'm checking in on our East Coast FSM members. Hurricane Isaias seems to be causing a lot of property destruction and loss of power. Tragically some lives have also been lost.

I texted edwzoomom (EDW) to check on her. She is okay but has been without power for several days. Her neighborhood sustained a lot of damage. I'm sending her positive thoughts and hope that power is soon restored.

How are our other members doing in this storm? Chime in and let us know.

Wow, I had no idea. I thought it skirted the east coast of the US and was a non issue. Sorry for those affected by the storm.

I live in central Maryland and have not seen anything heavy to this point. Just plain rain and flashes of lightning.

Thanks Joan for the kind words. Just checking in. Still no power or eta at all. It's been a bit tough but hanging in there. I am shocked what I can do from my phone. It's tough typing and I'm using a lot of data. It's replaced the electricity I'd be using. Thank God for external batteries, battery operated fan, Disney Plus and YouTube premium. Netflix, Hulu, Prime don't cut it on the phone.

We are sharing a huge generator with our neighbor so we have some limited power. I can't work from home and my company requires a litany of requirements to be on campus and I don't feel secure being there. I have no problem with the requirements at all but feel leery about it in spite of the measures.

I hope any other East coasters are back to normal and hope to be myself soon.

Take care all. I'm looking forward to getting back on the grid.

Edit: I finished my thought. What do expect when typing on a phone?

Good news though! Power came back on at 7 pm est. it was a crew from Kansas who got us restored. Thanks Kansas!

Yeah my relatives back up in Jersey have been without power since Tuesday afternoon. That's what happened with the unexpected turn westward. Can just imagine all them trees (and power lines) down.

This Houstonian sends best wishes and condolences to you guys. We can relate!

I finally bit the bullet and installed a whole home generator that runs off of my natural gas line. Once mainline power fails, the generator kicks in and provide power until the utility company restores service. Lately it seems that, if a leaf falls the wrong way off a tree here, electrical service fails.

The infrastructure in this country desperately needs attention!

One of m'bros told me that is precisely what happened for him & the Mrs. The owner of the property they inhabit purchased one after Sandy did such a number. I had never heard of installing one in a gas line. And everyone I've talked to down here gives me the "huh?" response, too. Sounds great except you probably get the normal heating bill for winter in August if it runs for a long stretch. smile

Back online after four days without power and a big bill for fallen trees. Yes, you need a generator out here in the woods of Connecticut!

I run a consulting business from home, so having electricity and internet service is essential. Downtime costs money.

Yeah just spoke with another bro who's working remote per Covid. They got the power back, all right, but not the Net. Irony: He works for a power company. roll eyes
