About 30 years ago, I sold off my TER LP of Marc Wilkinson's Enigma. Wishing now I hadn't because this is one of those vinyl records that will probably never get re-issued onto CD format.
Have to say, though, that Egisto Macchi's quietly atonal music in Mr. Klein is my favorite musical backing for Lonsdale.
I'll have to consult IMDB for this, I'm afraid, but my favourites are:
THE DAY OF THE JACKAL - Delerue CHARIOTS OF FIRE - Vangelis THE REMAINS OF THE DAY - Robbins MUNICH - Williams
The typical picks, in other words. I realize I've seen very few of his films, but there are others beyond the ones mentioned - only they don't have scores I care for, or no score at all. An example of the latter is the excellent DES HOMMES ET DES DIEUX. No score, as far as I remember. THE NAME OF THE ROSE has an interesting score, but not something I put on very often. And I'm no big fan of Bond or Barry's Bond music, so no MOONRAKER on my list.
Lonsdale’s Papa scenes in "Munich" are, from memory, I think un-scored; but they are so beautifully played, equally charming and menacing, and the cooking scenes never fail to make my tummy rumble. 'We are tragic men. Butcher's hands. Gentle souls.'
