Can anyone familiar with the film list which tracks from the soundtrack correspond to the film scenes? Much appreciated.

And if someone can translate the Xperiments track titles, that would be cool! lol!

And if someone could track down every copy of this film in whatever format and obliterate all of them I’d be terribly obliged.

"Your destiny is at its end, X-Men. The Dark Phoenix has come to destroy you all!"

The animated adaptation had some gloriously over-the-top dialogue that I can recall to this very day. smile

I hope that there will be a truly worthy adaptation of the comic book at some point!

I'm sorry for de-railing the thread with my thoughts on this story.

Forget my Batman request. Did it myself! big grin

Thought these were greek words, but:

Vespertilio - A type of bat (it also means "Evening")
Eptesicus - Also a type of bat related to the vespertilio family
Myotis - a type of bat with mouse ears
Barbastella - a type of bat related to vespertilio
Artibeus - a bat who eats fruit...
Tadarida - a European free-tailed bat
Macrotus - a tropical bat
Antrozous - a Canada to Mexico living bat
Nycteris - slit-faced or hollow-faced bats
Molossus - another bat....
Corynorhinus - a bat with big ears
Lasiurus - a very hairy/fury bat

I kinda feel there's a connection here.....

Not Greek but Latin.

Original Comment by LS100 Studios

1. X-HZT - An experimental composer sketch, brings in some elements of the Phoenix theme at times. Love those unsettling chants and yells, some really crazy stuff there.

2. X-X - This is the kind of track I was hoping for with this score - a more gentle suite for the new X-Men theme. Brings in some elements from "Gap".

3. X-LGDP - A suite for the Dark Phoenix theme, extends parts of the track "Dark".

4. X-SI - A suite for the D'Bari, extends parts of the track "Negative".

5. X-HD - A suite for the techno action cues that pop up in tracks like "Intimate" and "Reckless".

6. X-MP - A suite for the ending cue of "Reckless", seems like those thirty seconds were originally a whole track in itself.

7. X-MT - A suite for Magneto's theme, another thing I anticipated with this score. Brings in some new cues while focusing on the themes used in the original score.

8. X-TX - Another suite for the new X-Men theme, this one is much more dreary compared to "X-X". Similarly, it brings in some elements from "Gap".

9. X-MDP - Another suite for the Phoenix. Brings in some elements from "Dark".

10. X-F - A shortened version of "Amity", I think the instrumentation is slightly different but it's much of the same.

11. X-CH - A reworked version of "Coda".

12. X-SS - The end credits for the film, rendition of the new X-Men theme.

And for the main soundtrack album he wrote

1. "Gap" debuts the new X-Men theme, with various renditions throughout before the Phoenix theme debuts up at the end. Love how the X-Men theme starts off quiet, wish we had more of that in the score.

2. "Dark" is a suite for the Phoenix theme, it has various renditions of it too.

3. "Frameshift" starts off with the Phoenix theme, and then debuts Magneto's motif. The Phoenix theme returns more quietly through the track, then builds up to a violent rendition towards the end.

4. "Amity" is mostly gloomy ambience from the sound of it, but after listening to the whole score it seems like a theme of mourning. It plays after Mystique dies, and again after the loss of Jean. So I guess this counts as a fourth theme?

5. "Intimate" starts off with some uncertain vibes, then transitions to a more ethereal score. Magneto's theme returns, this time in full, with the full theme playing around 6:42. We're welcomed to more renditions of the X-Men theme during the NY skirmish.

6. "Negative" doesn't feature any of the other themes - save for a bit of the X-Men theme towards the end. This track might be a theme for the D'Bari, I think it's when Jessica Chastain takes the Phoenix force.

7. "Deletion" opens with Magneto's theme, and transitions to a violent rendition of the Phoenix theme, which continues through much of the track. The end of the track gave me some Ottman vibes.

8. "Reckless" starts off with a short piano theme - seriously thought Ottman's "Hope" theme was gonna' start at 0:35, haha. It's then followed by the gloomy theme from "Amity", can't remember what scene. Much of this track, similarly to "Gap", contains renditions of the new X-Men theme. An action rendition of Magneto's theme starts around 7:20.

9. "Insertion" starts off with Magneto's theme, its last appearance in the score - followed by a calmer version of the Phoenix theme, which leads to a more violent rendition of it. The theme quiets down to an eerie rendition of the Phoenix theme halfway through the track, and builds up to another violent rendition. The track concludes with a choral arrangement which kind of reminds me of the ending for "Terraforming" from Man of Steel.

10. "Coda" wraps up the score with a reprise of the mourning theme from "Amity". Splices in some bits of the X-Men theme too, and some piano notes towards the middle are derived from the Phoenix theme. Also uses some of the Phoenix chants towards the end. All in all a nice hopeful track to wrap up the film.

Thanks for this! Very interesting info, and makes me "understand" the score a bit better. Only listened to it all once recently and I liked the Xperiments album more than the score album. Will definitley revisit the score album after this smile

Thanks for all who chimed in with all the great info. I am hoping someone who has a better understanding of the film in relation to the soundtrack can report what scenes the cues pertain too...

I was just listening once again to the general score version on the way home tonight and have to admit ( in one of these ashamed declarations at a support group kinda way..) I love this score.. and i also REALLY liked the film. There…Ive said it!
I think the whole project has a kind of ‘Emperor’s new clothes’ thing going on with it. It was condemned before it came out and then it was popular to just agree with the general opinion, it was shite! Watching the last few technically well made but as engaging as a cold fish supper, superhero films, i keep coming back to ..what the hell is so bad about this. It gets better for me every time I see it and Hans’s score gives it some real punches in places. The last sequence gets me every time with almost a slightly moist eye as Hans’s music scores the last battle. I’d love to hear the film mix release as the score seems even better in the film than the album and seems to have more driving bits that dont quite appear as well ( even with the Xperiments version).
I think the true test of a soundtrack is how many times you want to go back and replay it and this is certainly high for me.
So, yes, in this war-torn shitty world that is steadily lurching towards destruction, everyone’s opinion is important… but if you don’t like this you’re wrong! smile smile

The Xperiments from Dark Phoenix albums is one of the best things Zimmer has ever put out and I am so thankful he found it an exciting/worthy exercise because of it leading to the releases for WW84 and Dune. Both of which are also essential releases in my book. I have the Dune sketchbook as the vinyl release in my collection but I would love to see a release of both Dark Phoenix and WW84 in that format (and CD for the CD collectors).

I seem to remember the reason behind the soundtrack and the Xperiment album of Dark Phoenix were released separately (on DSPs) is that Fox nixed the idea of releasing a 2CD album containing both.
