If I get around to typing out 10, or 19 titles by James Horner that I favour most, I can tell you that the majority of them will come from between 1980 and 1990. But I still love many of his later years scores. I didn't feel any drop off in quality, more a heightened ambience over those early symphonic fireworks.

I had never done the exercise for Horner so it was interesting to do - it would be interesting to have the global tally on such a "controversial" composer. I recently discovered "The Boy with the striped pijama" thanks to the lists! As the main list, my runner-ups would also mainly come from the 80s and 90s - After the mid 90s, I really started to be less interested into hearing his "variations" all over again.
