Yeah I am with Sean on this. I gave it up. It is really not worth the trouble. More often than not you can buy it at a fixed price, either on this board, or Amazon from used store like Goodwill or a library or Discogs. I am past the point of being okay being suckered over paying for stuff on ebay. At one point I felt okay being taken to the cleaners for stuff I wanted, but not anymore.
I still enjoy bid sniping on the items I want. You can look at the bid history on the item and see which individuals are bidding on it and the amount they are bidding (except the top bid which is concealed). With our knowledge of how in-demand a title may be and what they sell for it gives us an advantage. If I see two bidders outbidding each other by two bucks a shot and knowing at least one of them will bid snipe in the last fifteen seconds of the auction I'll do the same but bid 10-12 dollars more than the last seen bid. It works more often than not for me. Just watch the bidding closely and you can anticipate their move. It's fun to see the results, win or lose.
Then there's the other side of the coin — you spend a fortune winning a rare CD and next week it gets reissued.
Cheers
Stephen, don't you just hate it when that happens ! I once paid £70 for the Japanese issue of Morricone's 'Dedicato al mare Egeo' A couple of weeks later Quartet reissued it.
