THE MUSIC OF JAMES BOND---George Lazenby was axed as a guest speaker at The Music of James Bond held at the Perth Concert Hall in Melbourne, Australia due to his offensive remarks during his appearance. One member of the audience said, "He spent all of the interview just talking basically about his sexual conquests, he was homophobic, he swore, he certainly wasn’t talking about his Bond movies, he downplayed the Queen, a day after she died.
At one point he named an Australian cricketer whose daughter he was chasing and he said he dragged the daughter out of the pub and put her in the car in London, which is horrific … he named women he had slept with, and there were children in the audience, and a lot families who had brought their kids probably to their first classical music concert."
Lazenby posted his apology, "I am sorry and saddened to hear that my stories in Perth on Saturday might have offended some people. It was never my intention to make hurtful or homophobic comments and I am truly sorry if my stories that I have shared many times were taken that way. I only ever wish to share some stories and hopefully entertain some people. I personally have friends within my close circle who are gay and I would never wish to offend anyone. Having been surrounded by strong women all my life, I have always admired and respected women and their wishes. I figure my real achievements in my life are my kids: when my daughter Melanie recently got married, I was so proud. As I am of my other kids, Jennifer - who has made me a great granddad. My younger kids are doing well: George Jnr and my twins, Samuel and Kaitlin. Now in my 80s, family and friends are naturally what's most important to me. Love George xx".

THE HOLDOVERS---Paul Giamatti will star in this comedy movie set in a 1970 prep school where a snow storm strands a hated teacher, a trouble-making student and the cook whose son was killed in Vietnam.

TRIVIA---character actor Dick Miller played a character named Walter Paisley in six movies (A BUCKET OF BLOOD, HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD, THE HOWLING, THE TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE, CHOPPING MALL, HANUKKAH) and a tv movie (SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROCK!).

Looking at Dick Miller's face in the 2nd photo, my mind arrived on his role in Terminator at the gun shop.

Harrison is really looking...his age. frown

1) I hope I'm both alive and that fit at his age.

2) I don't wanna see Indy that old. frown

Does anyone else find it ironic that Lazenby was depersonalized and cancelled...for behaving like James Bond?

It was hot and dry--food was scarce.
Then kablooie.
And then it was hotter and drier--and food was scarcer.

There's your show.

You're welcome.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a doomed Botanay Bay trip,
that started from a tropic planet,
aboard this tiny ship...

I have to say... I have a tolerance for some of these projects, but this one strikes me as totally unnecessary and unwise. Does not need to be "told".

No, we have to tell everything! Like how the Rebels stole the Death Star plans.

I could see it as a postapocalyptic horror story as the Ceti eels attack the settlement and take out the crew one by one. big grin

As much as I love Star Trek 2 TWOK the set up was ridiculous. Starfleet never bothered to check on the settlements progress? Starfleet had no idea a star (or was it a planet?) blew up and changed the orbits of it's planetary system? Where did Kirk drop Khan off? The galactic boonies?

Then Chekov takes his Captain to what he thought was Ceti Alpha 6 and doesn't bother to mention who's on Ceti Alpha 5 before they got captured? Like Chekov totally forgot? And that's assuming you accept the argument Chekov was on the Enterprise during Space Seed but just wasn't seen.

Khan's explanation was ridiculous.

"The shock shifted the orbit of this planet and everything was laid waste."

I'm sorry but shock waves don't travel through the vacuum of space. Nor do sound waves but I guess we need that for entertainment purposes. Now, if a large chunk of Ceti Alpha Six traveled through space and collided with Ceti Alpha Five maybe I could swallow that story. smile

I also don't believe planets explode but I realize it's a fantasy sci-fi film.

You have all made good points. ST2TWOK did have some plot holes big enough for Khan's pecs, BUT, before we get too hasty, did Kirk get approval from The Federation before he banished them to Ceti Alpha V? I never really was that crazy about that episode, and I simply don't recall, so I may be way off.

I'm just thinking that if Kirk did it as a personal thing, then it could open some possibilities for story lines for the new series. No one checked on them, because only the crew of the E knew about them?
Anyway, my main beef with it is that no one can ever even approach Montalban's Khan. Cumberbatch did a decent turn, but he wasn't the real Khan.

In the episode they make it sound like Kirk decided the fate of Khan and his crew on his own without the guidance of Starfleet. Making an executive decision like that seems out of order for his command position and it would've been derelict of duty not to mention his encounter with Khan in his Captains Log.

I swear, Kirk never told Starfleet he left Khan there. big grin

TWOK is one of those films where the plot holes and contrivances are generally forgiven because, on the whole, the film works like gangbusters. It shouldn't work, but it does. It was that "lightning in a bottle" that Trek could capture every so often. I saw the Fathom event the other week and even with the ridiculous extra bits for the "Director's Cut" the film still sings. On the large screen, I got totally swept up in it. At home, I'm more aware of the faults. But yeah, all the stuff you mentioned is valid. Also, the age of Khan's people tends to be too young. What happened to all of those adults in "Space Seed?" And we didn't see or hear mention of a single child in that episode. Unless all of Khan's followers were all supposed to be 15 years old.

Doesn't matter. To quote Connor Macleod: "it's a kind of magic."

Star Trek III also gets a pass for all of the plot bullshit because it was always such a great, emotional journey. Not nearly as many people forgive III as much as II but both films have equal amounts of bullshittery.

That is so true.
The "unnecessary and unwise" applies to so much now that it's staggering.

Excellent! The writing is very good, the pace is taut, the characters are memorable, and there is an emotional investment that involves us as well.

I swear, Kirk never told Starfleet he left Khan there. big grin

wink
I'm thinking that's the case. If so, then I could envision that as a sort of space seed for a backstory for Khan's hateful obsession with Kirk. Were the crewmembers of the Botany Bay provided with means of communication in case of emergency? Weapons for self-defense?
Think about it. After they land on Ceti Alpha V, they encounter some unforseen, terrible circumstances.
Khan asks Marla McGivers about how they can get help from the Federation.
She admits that the Federation doesn't know about their imprisonment, so they have no hope of receiving help.
I can just see the fury in (Montalban's) Khan's eyes as he realizes what their fate is to be as he shouts:

"Kirrrrrrrkkk!" "Kirrrrrrrkkk!"

There’s a deleted scene in which when Kirk first hears about Khan he goes… “oh shit, I forgot to do that log entry”

I think there might be some wiggle room for what I'm about to say.
It's possible that Starfleet would not have sent a ship to check on Khan if they were under the impression that Ceti Alpha 5 was destroyed--not knowing that it was, in fact, Ceti Alpha 6 that "exploded".
This would seem to bear out when we see that Chekov and Terrell thought they were on Ceti Alpha 6 when they beamed down.

Plausible?

You know the irony of Starfleet attempting to create a paradise planet just a skip away from Khan's "savage and slightly inhospitable" planet. Kinda of a kick in the pants if you ask me!
