THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD---rumors claim Jake Gyllenhaal, Jensen Ackles and Alan Ritchson are candidates to play Batman in the Andy Muschietti movie. Gyllenhaal, who was a top candidate to play Batman in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy, commented on if he would like to play Batman, "Of course, I would be flattered. Anyone would be.”
David S. Goyer, who saw the screen tests for BATMAN BEGINS, supported Gyllenhaal for the starring role, "I mean, Gyllenhaal’s amazing, Christian Bale’s amazing, so who knows."
HORROR---SOPRANOS creator David Chase is the writer/director of an untitled horror movie underway at New Line Cinema. No plot details were released. Chase was a co-writer/story consultant on the KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER tv series that inspired THE X-FILES.
SUPERMAN & LOIS---Tyler Hoechlin posted a photo with Elizabeth Tulloch from the last season. Douglas Smith (BIG LITTLE LIES) will play Jimmy Olsen.
THE GOOD DAUGHTER---Jessica Biel stars in the Peacock miniseries whose synopsis says, “THE GOOD DAUGHTER is a suspenseful crime drama where sisters Charlotte (Jessica Biel) and Samantha Quinn have spent the last twenty-eight years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of violence. When another attack splinters the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte is the first witness on the scene. Now a lawyer like her father, she’s forced to confront her own demons as the case twists through one shocking revelation after another. In the end, both she and Samantha find themselves wondering if the price of being the good daughter was worth it after all.”
THE SCURRY---Rhys Ifans and Olivia Cooke will star in the comedy horror movie whose synopsis says, “Two pest controllers who are called to an eco-café in a country park to investigate what begins as a routine vermin problem but as nightfall approaches an avalanche of deranged squirrels descend, wreaking revenge and mayhem on the staff and visitors in the park. With many fatalities, the survivors take shelter in the café as a freak storm takes out the power and communications leaving them isolated and under attack. An eclectic mix of survivors include pest controllers, a sulky teenager, hypocritical vegans, and a drug dealer – there is only an outside chance of survival.”
POPEYE---a live-action movie is underway based on the comic strip/cartoon sailor. The 1980 POPEYE movie starred Robin Williams.
THE NEVERENDING STORY---a new movie franchise is underway based on the 1984 Wolfgang Petersen fantasy movie and book.
NCIS: SYDNEY---CBS renewed the series for Season 2.
NBC---NBC cancelled LA FIRE AND RESCUE and HOT WHEELS: ULTIMATE CHALLENGE.
TRIVIA---in the Dirty Harry sequel THE ENFORCER, three cast members were related to veteran actors. Jocelyn Jones played Miki Waleska, a member of a gang stealing weapons, and is the daughter of character actor Henry Jones. Miki is killed by Dirty Harry's partner, Inspector Frank DiGiorgio, who is played by John Mitchum and is the brother of Robert Mitchum. DiGiorgio is killed by a gang member and is replaced by Inspector Kate Moore, who is played by Tyne Daly, and is the daughter of James Daly and the sister of Tim Daly.
In THE ENFORCER, Jocelyn Jones played gang member Miki Waleska and is the daughter of character actor Henry Jones.
John Mitchum played Inspector Frank DiGiorgio and is the brother of Robert Mitchum.
Tyne Daly played Inspector Kate Moore and is the daughter of James Daly (front row, right) and the sister of Tim Daly (front row, middle).
