Great collaborator, advisor, and mentor... can't wait to see what the 1000th cd will look like.

The absolute BEST part of Joe's 500 is that, as he says, he's a collector as well as a designer! Joe set the standard for great design that is very usable and collector friendly.

It's a real skill to have 50+ track titles, with timings, credits and legal disclaimers plus some still from movie all on the back cover and make it look good. Hey, and don't you love the black and white spines of FSM releases - VERY easy to find what you are looking for!

What makes our love of soundtracks so special is having people like Joe, Lucas, and all the rest that really LOVE the music and can constantly surprise us with their amazing releases that you want to show off to your friends because they not only SOUND good, they LOOK great!

Congratulations!

Robert Emmett

Congratulations, Joe!

I enjoy your work every time I pull a FSM or Intrada CD off the shelf. You've created a unique, signature look and style for each label that is not only appealing to the eye but also makes each of the labels' releases immediately recognizable. If anything, you could only be faulted for setting the bar too high. Here's to the next 500.

Josh

P.S. Great interview. Thanks, Mark!

Cheers, Joe! I had already loved your design work for some years before I found out we were working together at OEBS. And now I'm so very lucky to have you as a friend, and and so grateful for your support - even attending all of my Herrmann performances this year!

It's true - your design work for these CDs has really set the standard. Anyone else who comes close has clearly followed your lead. Now, I probably don't have all 500 that you've designed... but I'd bet I have most of them. And it's truly what everyone's been saying here - you really are such the nicest guy, too.

Gil Melle??!?! Ha HA! We haven't talked about him yet (how?!)... I guess Intrada released Andromeda Strain and The Organization, has anyone else released any of his scores? I'd love a Night Gallery disc, wouldn't you? Ok, here's discussion material for our next lunch. :-)

Once again - BRAVO, Joe! And keep up the fabulous (and, based on the tribute and replies here, clearly INSPIRING) work! I will be honored one day when I conduct a recording which has your design work.

I would buy both of you lunch just to have that conversation about Gil Melle', but you would have to be in NYC!
