COVER
The Madman and His Muse
With Mulholland Drive, Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch embark on another twisted trip into the bizarre. In this candid interview, Badalamenti expounds on his eclectic past and his truly experimental relationship with Lynch.

FEATURES
He Wrote the Book
Before retiring, Earle Hagen enjoyed a 40-year stint as both a celebrated author and composer -- scornig everything from The Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle to Eight Is Enough and The Mod Squad. But of the over-3,000 TV episodes he worked on, his scores for I Spy were the richest, most diverse and the most challenging of his career.
The King of Hip 2
With a brand-new autobiography in the bookstores, it seems like the right time to finish off Q. In Part 2 of our retrospective (1968-2001), we'll see how he parlayed the success of his score to In Cold Blood into other film-scoring endeavors, before changing his focus to more pop-oriented projects.
A Diamond in the Rough
Sure, film-scoring programs are popping up all over the country, for better or worse. But the folks at North Carolina School of the Arts seem to have their collective heart in the right place. By Chris Wright, NCSA student.
