Any chance that Varese would send out corrected insert for this like the other labels do?

Got mine today!!

Again to Chris@SAE => please add more of this bubbly-protective material because the front case is cracked. Obviously some people handle the envelopes as if they were Frisbees or they let them get squashed. Actually I can't replace the front part because it is dissimilar from regular disc cases. This is my first purchase of a Varese Deluxe Edition. Haven't bought a Varese title for ages now...

The booklet reeks of petrol or something. Really noxious smell.... At least the LLL or Intrada booklet don't stink like that.

My copy is in pristine condition.

And I'm loving it! Both the music and the error on the inlay. Adds charm (same reason why I love my Alien set with the discs numbers being switched). wink

Just had my first complete listen to this score. What can I say...WOW! What an adrenaline rush! I didn't remember it being this good and dare I say it...better than the first one. An orchestral tour de force. Man, I miss Kamen. Bring on 'Die Hard with a Vengeance'!

Good liner notes - they directly engage the adultness of the film (!). Entertaining. Also good to learn about Mr. Kamen`s passing (event, no, learn, yes).

I had a bit of a scare with Disc #2 - a visibly offset circular discolouration - but it seems to play well in everything I`ve got.

I wonder if maybe a chronological complete of Die Hard 4 might be in the offing.

Same here.
I was perturbed by this discolouration, ergo I gave disc 2 a spin first. Likewise, it seems to play swell.

"Good liner notes"
------------------------------
While I have nothing against Ms Kirgo and have quite enjoyed previous liner notes by her (SPIRAL ROAD and STAGECOCH spring to mind) I thought the notes for this and Enemy Mine were a bit disappointing. I like to discover stuff about the making and putting together of the film or hear interesting analysis about the score when I read liner notes (big ups to FSM liner note writers and Jeff Bond here), but found these two to be nothing more than basic info that I imagine any fan of the films would know beforehand. I read them once, slotted them back in and will never scan them again. Yet I still find myself re-reading any number of FSM releases (Jeremiah Johnson notes are ace) and previous Varese ones like Ballad Of Cable Hogue.
Oh well, it's all about the music and there are no failures there (well, I haven't played them yet, but know it's a great score already).

Sadly, I have to agree with this. I was rather disappointed in the notes, particularly after having just read Jon Burlingame's excellent notes for THE RED PONY.

Fantastic score though. I think I may even prefer it to the first. From "Landing Esperenza's Plane" onwards it is just awesome Kamen action cue after awesome Kamen action cue.

Received my shipping notice today. I didn't order during the first few days so I wasn't worried or surprised by the later date. Looking forward to listening to it next wk! About time to revisit the first two films - they're holiday films after all!

Looks like it was the perfect call on the # of copies by VS.

>>>>>>English your primary language??>>>>>>>>>

I know it's off topic, but when did it become okay to belittle someone for trying to converse with us here who doesn't speak the Queens English?
A reply like that - and the follow-up jokes - are really going to make that person want to return here to chat, aren't they?
I wonder how well you would fare contributing with him on a message board in his country?
Classy...NO. Shameful...YES frown

Hi guys!smileI know RM, he's a good guy, I don't think he meant anything by it. He was just kidding around like I did with my post. I say the more on the board the better! It makes this place more interesting.

Always good.

I always thought this score was powerful, just like its predecessor. Before Die Hard I didn`t think much of Kamen, but afterwards... the guy was the right artist at the right time for the right job.

Bravo Varese. Bravo Mike Matessino and Nick Redman. Been dreaming of a complete Die Hard 2 since I heard the score in the film and realised most of it wasn't able to be included on the original release. Now we have the powerhouse action music that makes this score a winner. The full Annex Sky walk may harvest music from Die Hard but it gets one hell of a workout. The Army Arrive is another welcome inclusion. Kamen knew how to write aggressive music and this is a great moment. John punches Esperanza is a stunning workout for the speakers. Kamen knew how to maintain the action and this is a great example.

Disc 2 has another great moment in Fight At The Church Continues with effective use of timpani for the arming of the bombs, which leads to the full snow mobiles chase. Exhilarating stuff. And you still have the full finale to savour. Loving this set!!!!!!!!
