Playful scores do tend to be playful.

Because when I think of Predator, playful is the first word that pops into my mind.

"a few nods" - so, will it be the third time he followed Silvestri on a direct/semi-direct sequel, but without using his themes (or close to zero)?

Because when I think of Predator, playful is the first word that pops into my mind.

Playful is so obviously their way of using a euphemism for saying the music "calls attention to itself" or it actually features "orchestrations and or instruments not popular within the genre today" etc.

We can't be upsetting the general public with all this playful action music that's actually fun to listen to now can we?

It's almost as hilariously polite as when Zimmer called Elfman's Batman theme "jolly".

“Amazing Score by Henry Jackman! Ltd EP Exclusively at iTunes and Apple Music This Friday! Buckle up!”
Wonder if this means an expanded version like Infinity War?

Just saw the film. Hugely disappointing. I know the PREDATOR movies always had a little bit of comedy baked in, but this was a straight-up black comedy (no pun intended) all the way through. Self-aware like there's no tomorrow. That's simply not the type of PREDATOR film I wanted to see (and I've liked all the previous ones to one extent or another). Completely robs the character of its mythic power and scariness. I wonder if Shane Black has actually seen the original movie?

The score was decent in parts, and hopelessly generic in others. The nods to Silvestri's theme were nice (although surprisingly no "Theme by Alan Silvestri" in the main end credits), although there's something off with the quotes, like there are a few notes missing or something.

It’s a little nth-reissue-of-Great-Pumpkin to me, but if you like things that are ugly as a motherfucker, I can see why you like this, too.

Pity. But you do know that Shane Black was actually IN the original movie right?

That's a joke, right? Shane Black is IN the original movie.

I had forgotten that. Then it's even more of a shame that it's so far removed from what made the other films so good.

Going to see it in a couple of hours... no high expectations from Jerkman and I am not only curious if the worst 2018 blockbuster score award will go to him or Barfe.

"Jerkman"? Really?

Seems like you made up your mind about this a long time ago.

It's Shane Black. You do know that black comedy actions films are his trademark right? I would assume enjoyment is gonna hinge on whether you expect a Predator movie or a Shane Black movie (same as with Iron Man 3)...

Yeah. All his films are kinda spoofy. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys also.

I thought Shane Black was the black guy.

No, no, he'll be the black woman in the all-female revisioning where Arnold is a butch woman.

This is, sadly the kind of film I was worried it would be when I started hearing more and more about it and then that that fucking terrible trailer. I would have liked to have been able to say, "Well, at least we got a new Silvestri score out of it.", but we didn't even get that.
