There are reasons. I can't go into them here.

Ah, that's too bad to hear. So basically all of Rabin's scores are off limits?

I'm honestly guessing Rabin doesn't want to revisit these scores but that's just a guess. Maybe he even just want to release the albums himself, like that Jack Frost CD he's putting out.

Maybe because he sucks?

Just kidding... He does not suck, he inhales.

Understandable. Really, the reasons aren't necessarily important. Just the bottom line:

Should we give up on any reasonable hopes for any Trevor Rabin expansions?

Not a chance! If there’s a demand, it’ll happen eventually

Not if the composer, studio, etc. truly doesn't want to play ball. Expanded film scores aren't exactly a lucrative source of revenue. And what demand? Most of these editions nowadays don't seem to exceed 5000 units. It's not like 500,000 units are going to get sold.

If they were, these labels likely wouldn't exist because the studios would be producing and releasing these scores themselves

I’m not giving up the fight for music I care about.

Then don’t participate. I’m not giving up the fight for music I care about.

"Participate"? What are you even talking about?? Did I miss a memo on a convention or something? And if, by "fight", you mean "tell the labels what Rabin expansions I want", then...OK?

Hey! Intrada, LLL, Varese, and Note for Note! Expanded Armageddon! Please?

Anyways...

@BryonDavis, hopefully you can let us know if Rabin expansions are pretty much a dead-on-arrival pipe dream or not. Thanks! smile

That makes two Trevors from South Africa who seem to be obstacles to expansions.

Still love the material that we have access to.

No but you CLEARLY missed:

"We tried to do Aramgeddon, but were shot down a few times.
If you want expanded Rabin or unreleased Rabin you have to ask Intrada. They are the only label Disney works with."

Thank you, @Randy Watson

Yes...yes, it was absolutely 100% sarcastically in jest because of the unnecessarily pissy post (IMO) by bondo prior to that one. If that wasn't obvious...not really sure what to say about that.

I would buy any Trevor Rabin expanded album who ever release one. There is tons of good stuff.

Part of it is studio interest (or disinterest).

Considering he scored some of the more popular films in the late 90s and early 00s this actually surprises me a bit.

That is incredibly surprising.! Although thinking about it, we're also not really seeing any expansions from the Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures era. Crimson Tide, The Rock, Con Air, Armageddon, Enemy of the State, Gone In 60 Seconds, Pearl Harbor, King Arthur ... ... ... wait, am I just naming Jerry Bruckheimer movies at this point? IS IT A JERRY BRUCKHEIMER PROBLEM?!

Considering the LLL expansions of Days of Thunder, and Beverly Hills Cop I / II for which he even gave new interviews for the liner notes, probably not?

True. Plus there was also Bad Boys.

Must just be Disney. Wonder why though...
