What, where's the love for Eraser? Tremendous album, really , some great furious action writing. Nice package too, a thick booklet, lots to pour over.

Oh, I'm definitely loving it here. This has been a favorite action score of mine ever since it first came out, and I'm very excited to now have an expanded version with some of my favorite unreleased moments now included. I got it this afternoon, put it on immediately, and cranked it up! Nobody quite does action like Alan Silvestri. smile

Yummm, Caroline Munro, THE sci-fi-babe-a-licious!

Ooooohhhhh..... There's always time for Caroline Munro. I especially love her as the ill-fated Naomi in The Spy Who Loved Me. "Yummm" indeed. big grin

Golden Voyage was running on cable a couple of years ago and my wife was doing housework, walking in and out of the living room as various scenes with Caroline Munro were playing. Finally she just stopped and stared and after a while said "Who is THAT?"

I just got my copy of DRAGONSLAYER - a beautiful release that does justice to a great score at last. Your notes are great, too, Jeff - but please tell me that you really DO know how to spell "Rozsa"! smile

While we're on the subject of easy on the eyes, any chance we could get some higher resolution cover artwork? Pretty please? wink

These two arrived today.

Dragonslayer's a revelation after the I-wish-I'd-known-it-was-a-boot I spent so many years chasing.

Silvestri's not a favorite of mine, and I hadn't seen Eraser since it was in theaters, but this score is quite a pleasant surprise. It sounds great, and it's (so far) a far more pleasant listen than most of Silvestri's action scores.

A great batch!

How are we sure it was a boot? I know MV noted as much, but wasn't the CD also on Southern Cross, a legit company producing licensed soundtracks?

FYI, PARAMOUNT PICTURES confirm to Mr. Gerhard that the LASHER CD release was a bootleg, because he only had LP RIGHTS to this title and those rights expired long b before the his CD release was issued.

They would be the most informed source on this matter.

Hey ford, thanks for the info.

But one thing is unclear to me: If paramount knew for such a long time that the previous cd was a boot, how come they did not take legal action against the producer or the label? I mean, its not like Lasher operated in the shadow. From what i read here, he must have been a relatively well-known record producer back then.

You must remember that when this release happened, it was long before we had websites,email,etc...

It was off the grind and not on PARAMOUNT's radar and no one really made a issue of it.

And the time for anyone to really sue is long past as well.

That's life.

Just for fun, here's the contents of the previous cd release using La La Land's track titles as a reference:

1. Main Titles
2. No Sorcerers - No Dragons!
3. Ulrich's Death and Mourning
4. Maiden's Sacrifice
5. Forest Romp
6. Hodge's Death
7. Galen's Search For The Amulet/The Amulet
8. The Lair/Landslide
9. Still A Virgin
10. Tyrian - Galen Fight
11. Jacopus Blasted
12. Elspeth's Destiny/Valerian's Dragon Scales
13. Galen Jailed/Galen's Escape
14. Burning Village/Dragon Sore-ing
15. The Lottery
16. Three Darling Dragonettes/Triumphant Dragon/A Slight Skirmish
17. Visions And Reflections/Main Title (original)
18. Eclipse/Dejection
19. Resurrection Of Ulrich
20. Destroy That Amulet!/'Tis The Final Conflict
21. Intro To End Credits/End Credits

By the way, there is no comparison between these two releases as far as sound goes - it's like layers of mud have been cleaned away from a classic painting - its a complete transformation. Thanks to everyone involved at La La Land.

There is an interesting interview of MV from Lalaland records on the french site www.underscores.fr (http://www.underscores.fr/index.php/2010/03/interview-mv-gerhard-au-coeur-de-la-la-land-vf/) and there is also some interesting booklets pictures of the label including this one :

Looks like this release is closer than we thinksmile

Extract from the interview :

-What to expect from La-La Land in 2010 ?

MV : a lot of of great scores will be released this year ,from Jerry Goldsmith, Michael Kamen, Danny Elfman, Les Baxter and John Williams and other marvelous composers.

I received "Dragonslayer" yesterday (ordered from FSM) -- and, oh my god, the improvement in sound is amazing. The sonics are truly spectacular -- revealing layers in the score that I may have heard before but never truly appreciated. It is such insinuating, sinuous music -- with slinking strings and curling, coiling rythyms. An amazing score -- always one of my all-time favorites -- now made even more beautiful in its lustrous, gleaming modernity.

Thank you La La Land and all involved.

Any chance we might be able to get some of those big scans of these covers? Dragonslayer in particular looks quite stunning.
