Did anyone buy your tickets, BP2?

I feel really bad for you that you didn't get to sell them. I would have bought them in a heartbeat if it weren't for the travelling costs involved.

Do we have an expected length for the program? Mostly this is important for planning if I want to stay the night in San Pedro or drive back after.

Wow...Morricone. Your words are extremely kind and appreciated beyond measure. Thank you for the tremendous dedication and commitment to GSPO over these ten years. You have played a major role in bringing this dream to reality. Thank you!

Steven

I feel like I have been blessed by the Pope.

But really how many such orchestras exist? I know Richard Kaufman when he was in Texas approached something like this. All I know is the GSPO even makes their Xmas shows film musicy (new word?) This Pops is in the town where most of these composers live and this concert looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship with Varese. Even with that I don't see anything deteriorating with previous associations like with Disney, Chris Young, John Ottman, Stu Phillips, William Stromberg, Richard Sherman, etc. etc. This is a film music fantasyland and I can't help treasure it.

Hmmmmm...I wonder if I could get John Scott to come down sometime?

The "chills" gotta be palpable now...just hours before it kicks off!

Talk about some awesome rehearsals today!
My wife and I are going early to see the Bob Peak movie art exhibit across from the theater, wjhich includes all those original cover paintings he did for Varese.

Actually I am curious about something. Everybody knows I have been creating these threads for the Golden State Pops Orchestra a long time. And I have been happy to bump them up, keeping them alive with tidbits and info, just so that I might get a few more film music fans to go down there. But this time I really thought there would be more conversation about something as absolutely rare as this. I've seen more contributions to a measly Elfman signing. Only the usual suspects of loyal GSPO followers from the past (TJ, Sirusjr, Superman1701, Eugene Iemola etc.) have checked in regularly. I for one am wondering what Cliff Eidelman is playing. It has to be a Varese item so CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS would be cool. But since there is no Rota and he did that ROMEO & JULIET CD for them, that might even be a powerful tribute possibility.

Of course sometimes I think pretty cynically and imagine a film music "fan" back in 1963 looking at the line-up at the Hollywood Bowl (Rozsa, Herrmann, Newman, Waxman, Tiomkin, Bernstein etc. conducting) and saying"Bah, no Korngold, I'm not going!"

So has there been little to be said here because:

A) Morricone does a fine job talking about this on the board, nothing more need to be said.

B) I talk about this stuff on Facebook.

C) I'm too excited to say anything.

D) What is the GSPO and what concert are you talking about?

Hey, I check in and post here regularly, even though I sadly don't have the opportunity to be part of it myself. I just love 'film music events' like these, and I'm following the updates and stuff with eager interest. Not only for the actual film music concert itself, but everything surrounding it -- mingling, fan meetings etc. Keep it up, Henry!

Henry, I can't think of anyone besides Lukas, who has gone to such lengths to unite the filmmusic community here in L.A. I don't want to embarrass you, but you've done a wonderful job promoting the concerts and your enthusiasm is downright infectious. See you tonight!

And I'll definitely be missing Thor there, too.

Wow! I didn't mean to slight you guys! Frankly before I could get anyone to the GSPO I would get such wonderful responses from the fans from such distant foreign countries as Norway and Indiana who would say if they lived here they would be there in a heartbeat. It has been the locals who have been reluctant to come. But not this time. The 8000+ hits this thread has tells me they ARE reading this. And the fact every little seat in this 1500 seat venue has sold tells me they are coming. So it is only that conversation about all these guys under one roof playing mostly their own work (and they will be seated in the audience with us throughout) would seem natural to me. But not much here.

We did have a pre-party gettogether last night. Well not exactly we, after getting no response on here for a gettogether my wife and I decided not to have one. But Drivingmissdaisy was getting a small crowd together and we volunteered to host something informal. We cleaned up best we could and threw something together. A jolly crowd of Hermit, Superman1701, Clafong, Bond1965 and many others showed up. But they started to open doors to rooms we dumped garbage for the party and complaining about cleaning my house so they could see more of stuff. By then I needed a couple more drinks.
Never volunteer.

Enough negativity this is going to be a Golden day. Thanks to all on here who have helped to make it so.
13 composers! 28 pieces! I can't get my mind around that. See you all tonight although with that big a crowd I'll probably miss a few of you.

DO NOT FORGET THE RED CARPET STARTS AT 7 PM!

...and BTW I still have one of Preston's tickets to sell.

Henry: your efforts are greatly appreciated. My wife and I will be there. We're (finally) about to start the two and a half to three hour drive down. We're spending the night. Been too busy at work these past few weeks to say much about the concert except "Yay!" and "Yippee!"

It will truly be a memorable evening, and many many kudos to Maestro Fox, Mr. Townson, the composers in attendance via personal appearance or their music, and to you for promoting it so wonderfully.

I'll be there...and I coughed up the bucks to go to the reception as well. See you in about six hours, I reckon.

I'll be staying at the Crown Plaza. We decided to take the plunge and splurge for a room. Looking forward to seeing everyone at San Pedro Brewing. On facebook, a bunch of us have decided to meet there before the red carpet before the show. Look for me in a purple shirt.

On me way
Won't be back for many a day...

Actually after thanking everybody and their mother, who I feel for now is the orchestra.
Talk about pressure. You're playing in front of all those major composers!

YOU'LL BE GREAT!

It's now 1 AM over here, and I'm going to bed. Intriguing to know that you're all either about to enter or in the middle of this great event at the other side of the world. When I wake up and log on tomorrow, I expect lots of reports; maybe even photos. Have a great time!
