A FIELD IN ENGLAND---horror movie set in 17th century England in which soldiers are captured by an alchemist and lured to a mushroom field where they are attacked by a deadly entity.

Ben Wheatley is not a man to rest on his laurels, even when they're as full and bushy as they are for his terrific black comedy, Sightseers. The Brighton-based filmmaker already has his next film, A Field In England, in the can after a two-week shoot in Surrey last month. It's got a new poster which you can see below.

Co-written by Wheatley and Amy Jump, A Field In England it set in the aftermath of a English Civil War battle. A posse of deserters are escaping the carnage when they're seized by a treasure-hunting alchemist and compelled to help him hunt for gold. Unfortunately, the motley crew have a culinary encounter with a crop of magic mushrooms and everything turns seriously Dumbo on them.

Plunged into all this paranoia and mayhem are Julian Barratt, Reece Shearsmith and Wheatley's old Kill Lister Michael Smiley. Shot in black-and-white, and, according to the director, likely to be firmly 18-rated, A Field In England will be in our cinemas in 2013 (or MMXIII, for Latin speakers).

3. ABOUT A BOY---sitcom starring Hugh Grant based on the novel.

This is very similar to a painting I chose to do for 'O' level art many orbits ago. It was based on Arthur C. Clarke's novel of The Deep Range, in which the main character has a moment of panic while out on a spacewalk (I think) at the start of the story. My depiction was pretty bland - I had wanted to show the astronaut's face in deep panic, however, I'm pretty shit at drawing humans so it ended up as this small figure out on a tether with a blob-like earth as background. The similarity in look just struck me for a moment there.

This is the sort of thing that gets one thinking. I wonder what the film's about?

Edit: Don't look if you want to see it clean.

Glad you guys found the Hugh Grant mistake. I should've caught that because I remember posting about the movie a long time ago......but who cares about Hugh Grant?

Ive never seen a Fast & Furious film. Really have no interest in seeing one. But I have to admit the preview/trailer for the latest film looks pretty cool. Actually a hell of a lot more exciting than the Iron Man or Star Trek trailers.

MONDAY, MAY 13

INDEPENDENCE DAY---director Roland Emmerich said he and Dean Devlin are hoping for a franchise of INDEPENDENCE DAY movies, “That’s actually what we talked a lot about. The mythology of why did the aliens come in the first place; what is the bigger story of this whole thing? And we talked a lot about swarm intelligence. [The humans] are individual intelligence. Even though we kill each other and have wars against each other, we have something special...when you get a bigger mythology going, I think then you have the chance to do not only one or two or three but you can create a series. That’s what we want to do.” They added they want Jeff Goldblum to return for the sequels.

Their really late to the show are they not? Now they want a franchise? Why didn't they do this 20 years ago? (or when ever the first film came out) Besides, "Falling Skies" pretty much fits the bill nowadays.

Well, if you live in the UK, you've had to put up with him spending the past few years trying to gag the press and introduce new laws to protect decent minded people like himself who can't even have a blow-job in public without the newspapers getting involved! I mean, what's the world coming to when one's public actions are invaded like that!!?

I always thought it was planned to be a few movies (trilogy?) but for whatever reason it never panned out. I don't mind them trying now but it is a little late, hard to go off the success of the first one after so many years.

So...FURRY VENGEANCE, but more serious.

Just as ridiculous, though.

I said this before and I'll say it again: we don't need another sequel, but as long as they hire David Arnold and not what's-his-face to do the music, that's already a step in the right direction.
