I did, eminent sir, and it's a good call...

It was without sound, however, as Mrs TG Is watching The Missing on her laptop next to me. I'm not watching it as I don't much care for the plastic Man U fan with the Rooney thing going on up top who allegedly stars in it.

Refused to watch Game of thrones till i found out he had - Spoiler that everybody knows - his head cut off!
series much more enjoyable after that - although his voiceover for 02 ads are just as nauseating.

I saw him as Romeo with the RSC in the 80s. Not that I (or he) knew it at the time but he was using his Alec Trevelyan voice.

Frankie Lampard to stay at man city.
interesting because he is the new flagship signing of the MLS, and i heard an american "soccer" expert on the radio explaining that the owners were either committed to the MLS or they werent and that a dim view would be taken if Lampard was allowed to stay at Man City.

The BBC have a video and brief puff piece on the 1973 FA Cup final, in which Division Two Sunderland defeated holders 1-0. Tall Guy will no doubt recall where he was then (not watching Jon Pertwee Doctor Who I'd imagine; TG is oddly silent on that topic)

The ball was like a lead weight back then compared to the lighter-than-air object it is these days.

Sheeesh! Every man in that stadium had a hair helmet and mutton chop sideburns! EVERY SINGLE MAN!!!

That's the stuff of nightmares for me. 19 times out of 20, that Leeds side would stuff that Sunderland side, but that game, sadly for the 14-year old me, was the twentieth.

Sport: where the pain of a loss is stronger than the euphoria of victory.

Today's results:

Liverpool 2 Leicester 2

The Reds toss away a 2-0 first half lead and allow lowly Leicester to steal a point at Anfield. Brilliant goal by Leicester's David Nugent.

Manchester City 3 Sunderland (speaking of Tall Guy and 1973) 2

Frank Lampard scores the winner as City continue to roll. Chelsea were stupid, stupid, STUPID to let Lampard go (if that is in fact what they did). I hope he continues to burn his former team in every way possible, like he did in that earlier meeting this season. Good game, btw.

West Ham 1 West Brom 1

The Hammers concession of that equalizer was sooooo soft. Ouch. From first pass to last touch, The Baggies made it look easy.

rather scary goalfest at the lane!

its official, west ham down with the decorations !
we blew it and we are in a slump even before we lose our african players.
And anyone else we sell in the transfer window.

predictably its all gone wrong grommit.

Gerrard to announce tomorrow that he is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, most likely for the MLS. LA or Liverpool? Mmm, let's think....

Very sloppy performance today, Leicester were probably the better team. Some dubious penalty decisions as well.

I can't comment on who the best player is--I'm still a newbie to this game--and I wouldn't try to compare eras, either. However, what I do know from watching sports is that Liverpool are clearly suffering from a hangover due to last season's crushing disappointment at having lost the Premiership and having sold Suarez (dumb!). The media holds this and the fact that Gerrard has never won the PL during his time over the club's head. Gerrard clearly sees that Liverpool are entering a period of rebuilding and Gerrard at this stage of his career needs to move on to the big payday and relative ease an MLS career will offer. The kids in the stands at those matches will have to clue their parents in at who this "Steven Gerrard" guy is and why he's such a legend, though I wonder if we would be speaking of him with such reverence if Liverpool had lost the 2005 UEFA Final.

If they need to do that Phelpsie, they haven't been paying much attention. Notwithstanding the fact he's played in a number of mediocre Liverpool teams down the years, he's won more than most do during his career, as well as 100+ international caps. I shudder to think how many of those recent trophies Liverpool would have won without him. I agree with your post for the most part however.

I don't know, Bill. Gerrard fit right in with the England national team...

P.S. I do not follow the MLS. I'm strictly a "Premiership" supporter. big grin
