Same here, Bill! No offense taken or intended. My admiration for Stevie G is well documented in this thread (even when I kid about his age).

i see Stevie G has decided to end his Liverpool career then?!!!
Endless coverage for what seems like weeks but has been 4 days. Good time to go considering its Fa cup yawn weekend. Blyth spartans etc. i struggle to watch football in mud where everyone looks like me and kev mcgann playing sunday morning football!!
Hammers gave drawn everton away which has been switched to tuesday.
However shit everton are playing we never do well there so im not looking forward to it or bothered.
it comes to something when you are grateful for La liga matches on sky!!

The Gerrard thing sounds like a cry for attention. By announcing this all of a sudden in the middle of a season, he's hurting his "beloved" Liverpool FC--and they don't need something else to hurt them during this touch-and-go time, especially as far as their position on the table is concerned. Secondly, he won't get the benefit of a season-long send off, where he can get a warm, loving round of applause from every team and their supporters on the road. You know how old players love to do that. There must be some serious acrimony between SG and Brendan Rodgers

All of this Gerrard stuff sounds like a crybaby pouting in public. I predict he'll stay (or is it too late for that?)

In other news...FA Cup. Sunderland-Leeds United! It's epic, it's big! It's 1973! Only it's not any of those things! wink

It's the same score and another disappointment, although not such a crushing one. We hit the woodwork in stoppage time, so it could well have dragged on a bit longer.

Elsewhere, Blades beat Hoops!

Disappointing result in the game I just watched - Somerset's favourite team... versus Yeovil. Almost a local derby! A very poor performance from Man U galvanised only by the late introduction of van Gaal's house elf.

Since the backlash of ill feeling went into the stratosphere after scummy club Shef utd announced they would allow "convicted rapist Ched Evans" to train with them, you would think that any other club would know to leave well alone.
Not so the planks in the Oldham boardroom. who prepared to offer him a short term contract.
Cue the expected media response, public outcry, grumbles from sponsors and a 21000 online petition!!

now oldham board have sensibly called a meeting today and a probable change of heart. You would think these guys would learn wouldnt you?

Message to all chairman everywhere. Make your club into an instant villain, announce your club is intetested in signing "convicted rapist Ched Evans"..and watch the Bbc and non-football fans everywhere go out their minds.

Happy return, Bill. Looks as if Ched Evans will have to go abroad to ply his trade. Tough.

Ah, yeh, but maltese team Hibs wanted to take him but some Rule to do with convictions prevented this.

how to make your club instantly unpopular in one fell swoop.
Hint you want to let Ched Evans - sorry, "convicted rapist Ched Evans" train at your club!!

Looks like Oldham are still considering whether to sign him, and have now entered due diligence. I can see their predicament, getting a decent player on the cheap. Don't know about you guys, but I'm not liking the threats of sponsors and so on literally blackmailing the club if they don't get their way. What's to be the upshot of all this, the fella to be denied the chance to ply his trade for the rest of his life? No opportunity for rehabilitation? Doesn't reflect well on society if that's the case.

I believe there does need to be more sanctions open to league football eg certain crimes should come with 5 year bans or something so they have to play at non league level. Being a role model comes at a price. Good and decent behaviour should be a pre requisite.

Case in point, it wasnt that long ago lee hughes got pissed, drove like a nut, had a car crash, killed an innocent old couple in another car, ran away from scene of crime and only turned himself in 3 days later when whatever was in his system was out of it. served a paltry 18 months for 2 deaths and scummy clubs were queuing up to sign him, notts county i think took him on.
Few said a word. Not much bbc outcry then.

On Bbc news Ched evans and oldhams procrastination is taken from sport and is currently item 4 behind ebola nurse and general election campaigns on their main news!

FA Cup "action"! Your boys take on Everton at Goodison Park today, Bill. I'm predicting a 2-1 Everton win, based on your side's level of play lately, not that the Toffees have been setting the world alight, either.

2-1 is a common result with everton and us. Never do well at goodison altho cup games we have an equal record overrall but our form means its perfect opportunity for everton to spark their season into life.
We started well with sakho and valencia hassling opposition - we have slowly reverted back to static Carroll and Nolan and thats when the shit results started. Now sakho song n kouyate unavailable we are in for a shit january and plummeting league position.
Its on Bt sport tonight - which i was promised when i booked my broadband but never materialised and once i questioned it they said they had no record on me claiming free bt sport. Cheating bastards. So its pub or a film.

Oldham still prevaricating.

Wilfried bony to man city. Thats swansea season fkd.
