We could always discuss West Ham's match against Manchester City, a club seemingly admired by everyone else on this thread. wink

We polished them off! Took the Poles apart! Lech Walesa, General Jaruzelski, Marie Curie, the last Pope but one, Frederick Chopin, er, Gene Hackman in A Bridge Too Far, your boys took a hell of a beating!

Don't know what your problem is Thomas - we sailed through the group and we're going to win the World Cup next year. Any idiot can see that.

And I choose my words carefully.

Just how many beers did you have watching the match last night, TG? And whisky counts as beer.

Team USA snuffs out the World Cup hopes of Panama with a gutsy 3-2 victory in Panama. Panama had gone up in the 83rd minute but the US came back with two goals in three minutes of added time to break their hearts.

Add "and beating England 2-1 in the group stage" and you got yourself a deal!

It was the look on the Panamanian players faces that got me. After Zusi scored his goal, they all just looked around incredulously, as though they were thinking "what the hell are you doing scoring? I thought we were just winding down the game so we both went through?"

Yes, but at least the USA players didn't gratuitously celebrate or otherwise show up the Panamanians, seeing as the former are already in.

Said Harry Redknapp on Wednesday: "They (the FA) made a good choice. Roy's an excellent manager and nobody disputes that.

"Looking at it he was better equipped and better qualified, maybe at international level, than I was.

"I don't want to dispute that. He's a very well-qualified guy".

And here's 'Arry in the Daily Mail last week: "I wouldn't trust the FA to show me a good manager if their lives depended on it. How would they know? What clubs have they ever run? Who do they speak to who really knows the game?"

Sometimes this shit writes itself.

Don't know why Harry's opinion even matters, especially after his "will I or won't I?" ruminations over managing the England team single handedly destroyed Spurs' season a couple years ago, losing out on a CL spot by a mere one point to Arsenal and Chelsea. He's doing a fine job with QPR now, but that ain't exactly big time pressure by comparison, is it?

'Arry has been giving out all over the place recently, Jim. He has a new autobiography out which is being serialised in a tabloid newspaper, and from what I've read it should probably be filed under fiction! One player who read it said 'Arry must think he is Alex Ferguson.

dont nobody mention it. Total fkn non story that the handwringers are trying to concoct into something.

meanwhile, as for harry, privately hes quite a sensitive bloke but he does play up his rather tired cockney act publicly.

Harry Redknapp in his book 'Always Managing':

'When Tottenham played Swansea on April 1, 2012 I pulled Brendan after the game and said that if all the speculation about me and England was true would he consider coming to the European Championships in the summer as my part-time coach? He was up for it.'

Brendan Rodgers: "It was a quick conversation. I was aware he was very keen for me to team up with him if he was given the role. There was no decision either way."

Week Eight October 19-20, 2013

Newcastle 2 Liverpool 2- The Reds fight back twice to take a point at St. James Park but drop back of Arsenal and Chelsea atop the table.

West Ham 1 Manchester City 3- Atrocious--just awful--defense by the Hammers, who were intent on making Sergio Aguero a legend, allow City to coast past West Ham.

English Championship

Leeds United 4 Birmingham 0- Matt Smith's two goals help TG's boys rout hapless Birmingham.

oh jim, as predicted, it waz torture.
Alladyce decided to try the scam tactic of 6 midfieldrs and no strikers for the 2nd week running, after we got away wiv it at tottenham last week..
Slowed city down up to a point in the first 7 minutes but went to shit when they didnt close silva down until after he had received the ball. And let aguero run beyond them unmarked or give the midget so much room in the penalty area he jumped and scored without anyone near him. it was the equivalent of watching one of the willy wonka oompa loompas have a free header!

Then when his silly plan didnt work, he proceeded to put on another winger - presumably to put crosses into the box for what? hopin a city defender would put one in for us? There waz no one to aim at! Only in the last ten min did he put a striker petric on. result! he touched the ball about 3 times in his own half.
