The thing I was looking for was "Return of the Saint" with Ian Ogilvy but it never came out in region 1.
So, a friend who has megaupload got it for me.
It was late 197ish and the emphasis was on less violence.
The stories are not great but they have a late 60s peace & love to them.
Looking at what the character wear, hairstyles, vehicules, buildings, technology, ect...is vintage fun.
Watched an episode yesterday (I do overtime like crazy and am typing this from this office) and will watch some more next Sunday - fun stuff!
If they made a region 1 affordable set with all the episodes and lots of extras - I'd shell the buck for it.

I haven't noticed if anyone mentioned these yet in this thread:

A complete series set has been announced for McMILLAN AND WIFE
courtesy of VEI. This will probably be one of the only times that
part of a series (season one in this case) will be available
separately through Universal and another label - VEI.

The Warner Archive has just released the complete
first season of MEDICAL CENTER. The complete
MAN FROM ATLANTIS series is also now available.
SEARCH - the 1972 action/adventure series is being
prepared for release through the Warner Archives.
Hopefully, HARRY O - THE 1974-1976 David Janssen
detective series will not be far behind.

New releases from Shout! for the rest of the year have slipped out due to someone getting a catalog listing their releases through the end of the year. After the complete "Barney Miller" set in October, we're just looking at two more titles:

"Hazel" S2. This sitcom doesn't interest me much, but it has been a stalled title for more than six years since Sony released S1, so fans of that will be happy. Release date is November 1.

"Adam-12" S6. FINALLY, a release date announced but not until December 13. This means 16 months between releases which is real odd. I hope Shout! took the extra time to take care of the one extra that should be in an Adam-12 set which is the conclusion of a S4 episode on the short-lived series "The D.A."

Alas, it looks like "Ironside" and "Marcus Welby, MD" are now in the stalled category once again.

I've been watching it late nights on the AntennaTV channel. It's not a bad show, but some of the acting is certainly dreadful, particularly by patriarch Don DeFore. One of the worst actors in television history. He can't even say "Pass the salt" without overacting. Eesh.

Shirley Booth is kinda quaint, but that voice begins to hurt after a while.

speaking of bad overactors.....

Leonard Nimoy was absolutely awful in his early tv appearances.
just watched an ep of M SQUAD where he plays James Coburn's brother !

it doesn't get any more wackier than seeing "Sleepy' Scott Newlan and Nimoy in the same scene!

Complete set is available from Network UK. You should get a region free player as I suspect the b/w episodes won't be released here since they haven't been already.

HAZEL was a feeble sitcom, a waste of Booth's talent, I'm sure she did it for dough and residuals. I never laughed at any ep I saw. Typical early 60's network pablum.

I used to get good laughs with roomates who left a mess and I'd say, "Hey! Do you think I'm Hazel?"

You got that right. There are no laughs to be had with that show. None.

I don't find the show as annoying as "Bewitched" which wins the award for the most endlessly repetitive unfunny bits of business I've ever seen in a supposedly "classic" sitcom.

No. That that award goes to FAMILY AFFAIR. How obnoxiously sugary
and wholesome can a show get?

BEWITCHED is great. Besides, Elizabeth Montgomery was a hottie!

Hey, "Family Affair" at least was believable as a NY sitcom. "Bewitched" never once sprung for so much as one stock shot of New York. smile But I never really saw "Family Affair" as a sitcom, it was more dramedy with a laugh track like "Room 222".

I never thought much of Liz appearance wise to be honest. But the thing I hated most about Bewitched was Agnes Moorhead and her annoying bigoted Endora character doing the same old stuff over and over again whether it was that "Durwood" bit (the most unfunny recurring gag in the history of television, bar none) or constantly trying to break up her daughter's marriage with some "teach him a lesson" stunt and yet Samantha never had the guts to tell her to butt out of her life.

In fairness, there are some good episods, but all of them are Endora free episodes. Sam suddenly making Darrin go into baby talk when he tries to have an interview with a rival ad company after he quits Larry in a huff is a priceless moment. (Of course that brings up another point---why did Darrin keep working for a lecherous schlub like Larry Tate?)

I loved her in the TZ episode called TWO, and THE LEGEND OF LIZZIE BORDEN. When she played dark, she was amazing. And I do love her light as well, so BEWITCHED is fun for me.

Yes, her TZ episode with Charley Bronson was great. She was mighty yum with
darker hair and a gun. LIZZIE BORDEN was awesome, too. I also have in
my vast collection of goodies, the 1971 tv thriller THE VICTIM. It's a good n'creepy
one! I also have the early 60's gangster noir JOHNNY COOL. She really looked
yum in that one. smile

Looking forward to seeing at last a good quality version of the episode "Flight To Harbin" with Arthur Hill as an airline hijacker and Jessica Walter and Nancy Kovack amongst the flight crew!

I've always liked Arthur Hill, though I don't really know why. He's pretty bland, yet I always find him interesting to watch, especially when he's a bad guy (e.g. Futureworld). Am I remembering correctly that he was a baddie in an episode of The Invaders?

Can't remember his Invaders episode, but he was always the guy to go to for the seemingly affable guy in the first reel who turns out to be the baddie in the last act.

He was the killer in the pilot episode of "Murder She Wrote" and then seven years later got to reprise the same role, paroled but innocent of the murder of the week.
