Do we have a release date for this yet? I loved the brief sample/single that was released a couple of weeks ago.

It's his last score, and will be the last new Jóhannsson for a while untill labels start digging into his unreleased catalogue.

Lakeshore has released a preview of several tracks. The score sounds interesting, hopefully there will be a physical release as well.

iTunes has the track listing:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/mandy-original-motion-picture-soundtrack-deluxe/1410325010

1. Seeker of the Serpent's Eye (02:11)
2. Starling (02:15)
3. Mandy Love Theme (04:38)
4. Horns of Abraxas (01:31)
5. Black Skulls (02:45)
6. Death and Ashes (04:38)
7. Sand (02:02)
8. Red (01:32)
9. Forging the Beast (01:46)
10. Dive-Bomb Blues (02:15)
11. Waste (02:55)
12. Temple (02:59)
13. Burning Church (01:37)
14. Memories (02:34)
15. Children of the New Dawn (05:31)
16. Chainsaw Fight (Bonus Track) (02:06)

Running time approx. 43 minutes. Strangely the track titles don't match with the video's titles.

Man the trailer for this movie is so f***ing batshit crazy that I actually want to see the movie. It's beautifully shot but no doubt one of the trippiest and maddest movies ever made. I saw the trailer and afterwards I sat in stunned silence, like wtf did I just see? I didn't know what to make of it. Very intriguing. Of course the fact that Johannsson is scoring it adds to the intrigue. Very excited about the score!

The director is Panos Cosmatos. Related to George P., anyone know?

Thought so. Another day in the life of Deputy Riley, wherein I ask assorted questions to folks on the interwebz out of curiosity and hope that no one actually calls me out - justifiably, I might add - and asks, "hey how hard is it to do a quick google search mr. riley?"

I am a lazy man! Sometimes. Thanks for responding Thor and saving me the awful slog of typing it into a search engine.

Actually, I'm totally with you! I'm rather annoyed everytime someone says "Google it!" whenever I ask for a piece of information that may be readily available online. It's like you're at someone's house, asks for a piece of information and then that person -- well knowing the answer -- instead says "there's an encyclopedia on the shelf there; go look it up!". So yeah -- please keep it up! smile

Haha yeah the only person who can use that encyclopedia line is my mother (and she has). Anyone else tries that they can take a hike! wink

I just hope this is better than the director's last film, which felt like a parody of 80's arthouse/Italian horror movie/Cronenbergian/Kubrickian cliches. All influence and no inspiration. Plodding and pretentious on top of that, and a waste of a really cool and evocative title ("Beyond the Black Rainbow").

Lakeshore "Records" needs to do Johannsson right by physically releasing his last score. To have the last score this amazing man recorded reduced to a digital release is just disgusting. They need to help preserve his legacy and show some damn respect by releasing an LP AND CD.

A dark, depressing beast, this score. Jóhannsson-Droning at its best. Strange, weird attraction. The lovely, morbid love theme. Can't wait to see the movie.

Agreed, Lewis & Clark. That's a succinct description. I also just had my first listen, and while I had expected there to be more 'beats' (pr the single that was released early), it's kinda comforting to see that it's very much within his style. Deep, dark, with twangy guitars and probably the darkest love theme ever composed! smile

A fitting swan song, I think.

Listening to this now on Spotify. I get a distinctly Goldenthalian vibe on some of the guitar writing (from the track "Sand" in particular).

Ugh, hated the score. What a waste of sampling time.

This isn't really the kind of score you can really 'sample', it's hardly easy listening, but having listened to the whole thing a few times now, I have to say it's a work of twisted darkness with a lot going for it.

It's so full of melancholy and anger. The love theme is so dark it's really disturbing. We lost such a talent with this composers passing.

Just like your post-why waste your time.
Nobody cares what you think. Just sampling the music-not how one listens to Johannsson. Jerky move boy.
