Every time I read about this release, my ears gain points in obsessive-compulsive anticipation. 
I now await the order button to become enabled, and hope La-La Land has a good infrastructure to handle those https request packets that will hit their servers.

it's been said that sometimes "having" is not as pleasant as "wanting".... but not in this case!
I have found that truism to be somewhat false, when that which is wanted is what is really wanted.
In the case of film or TV scores, "having" is pleasurable because of "listening".
I'm running out of "holy grails". Until I start wanting something else.

Yeah, what you want to remember about that "having" vs. "wanting" quote is that Spock was referring to a woman.
This box set is a safe bet to provide hours and hours of intellectual and emotional stimulation . . . while almost certainly NOT turning out to be a different thing at some future date than the thing you brought home originally.
Buyer beware.

something fundamental!
That Kendall and Co. do their best work as every time and release, that is marvelous but a matter of course. Every feature film get an edition with unused music and the complete cues as they recorded. All postproduction edits don't find a place on the CDs. That's the way all great Soundtrack Lables like FSM, LaLaLand, Intrada, Quartet, Kritzerland ore Varèse Sarabande Club do it. Why they now follow a new credo! Because it is a Television soundtrack? I think "NO"! I want the episodes complete music! When there is original source music - put it on, and unused score cues - put it on! Do you forget the GNP Crecendo Editions - they don't sound much good and they havn't the complete music!!! I've never understand that they don't include the High Point of the "Where No Man Gone Before" Score of Courage: the often tracked Kirk vs Mitchell Fight! Let us happy, that we now have it!
And for all the people, who want to hear it like in the episodes: Do you want this truely? I was so happy to hear "The Empire strikes back" complete and so it was recorded and composed for the film by John Williams. It was a really "discovery"!
And for all, who want to hear the tracking episodes recreated!
Do you know, what you wanted? I must say, an episode like "Spocks Brain" is - I think so - for us all, one of the worst episodes, but that they has an complete composed original score (with a very little bit tracking) enhanced it absolutely! ("Spocks Brain" Music by Steiner is a much underrated score, some wonderfull action cues and wonderfully romantic cues with marvelous harmonizations!)
Another worst episode is "The Alternative Factor" with a complete tracked score. The horrible tracked score makes worse the episode a little bit more. When somebody want to hear a tracked episode, it will be a whole of a mess and not the - so often wanted - listening experience. The tracking isn't well made and sometimes they wanted to cover all action on screen, like Mickey Mousing!

You mean we won't have the ultimate remastered improved ultra-limited 25 CD set with bonus CDs featuring episode edits and complete artificial "scores" from tracked episodes for those Trek fans who want the music only the way they heard it come 2025? 
Until Kritzerland accidentally runs across the forgotten complete STEREO session masters and releases them in a limited 1,000-unit run, we should be in good shape.

"Doomsday Machine" had one tracked moment for just after Kirk says, "I'm gonna ram this thing right down its throat". This is either a rescored or recycled version of a Courage cue from "Naked Time". Oddly, this library cue was missing entirely from the first DVD release of "Doomsday Machine" and only silence played.
Yes, I can confirm that! I have both an old DVD version and the new BluRay Version, and the old one has absolutely no tracked music in this scene. It's a dialogue between Kirk (on the Constellation) and Spock (on Enterprise), and Kirk describes to Spock how he is going to use the Constellation as a weapon to destroy the Doomsday Machine. It's a rather emotional moment, as Spock clearly is shocked by Kirk's plan, and without the music there is lost much of its impact, IMO! The rescored cue (about 34 seconds from "The Naked Time") serves this scene eminently. Now, why was it deleted from the first DVD release? Was it on purpose? Again, one of those mysteries... Jeff, or Neil, do you know more about it?

In "Space Seed" (which was tracked only), there is a scene in the first act, with Marla McGyvers in her quarters, painting. I didn't recognize the background music from other episodes - is it some library stock music?
It's library music and yes we have it on the set.
