If the Blue Box can sell 6000 units altogether, does this mean the LLL STAR TREK TOS box could eventually go through its 6000 and be gone as well?

I'm a happy owner of both sets. I did not expect Blue-2 to ever sell out, and here we are. I wasn't expecting TOS to ever sell out either and now I wonder. Thoughts? 6000 is supposed to be a huge run by today's standards.

Any difference between the 1st and 2nd Editions of the Infamous Blue Box?

I believe the only difference it one say "1st Edition" and the other says "2nd Edition." The "1st Edition" will probably sell for a higher price.

Thanks.

Where does it say that? Side? Front? Inside?

My 1st Edition is buried right now, moving to a different building, but I do not remember if it said anything other that limited to 3000. The 2nd Edition does say it some where, I know I read that here somewhere. Someone who owns the 2nd Edition will have to help you with location.

I have the first edition, but I think someone said the 2nd just has a small-print mention inside the hardcover book, easy to miss. And apart from that they're identical.

I thought I had a first edition. I can't find any edition label on the box, CD art or book. Though the box says "FSM Box 02" on the spine.

And it started!

Though there are a few a bit cheaper:

I'm surprised the one for $159 is still around. It sure won't go for that later on.

Now Gone

That's the first edition, alright. The 02 means that Superman was FSM's second box set. Their first box was Elmer Bernstein if I recall.

Another difference: Some of the first editions had faulty books that fell apart. I would think that would make the second edition more desirable...

I see thxs. The booklet does seem a little fragile too.

This is correct. I have the second edition, and on page one of the book at the bottom in very small print it says "Edition II".

They shouldn't have even called it that. If a book with identical contents goes through its first print run and more are needed, they'd call it the second printing of the first edition.

At the time FSM replaced my original busted book, and allowed me to keep the original even though I offered to send it back. So if I have to read one..I read the messed up one and keep the good one in the box.

I have a feeling this Blue Box isn't going to sell as high as some may think on the secondary market. I'm sure some think they will make a huge profit. Some profit for sure but not huge. Maybe it's too early to tell yet.

You're right. But give it time.

I hope you're right. Those Amazon prices are shameful; but then Amazon Marketplace has always been the worst for price gouging. There were also sellers on there trying to sell some of the Complete Peanuts volumes (which usually go for around $34) for close to $1000 while the item was (very) temporarily sold out and awaiting a reprinting.

Either way, I'm glad I ordered the Blue Box a while back. One of the most indispensable items in my collection.

When the blue box was first released, some posters were counting their pennies and hoping the box would last so they could save up for it. And there was a poster gleefully claiming he had purchased 25 sets. He said he would re-sell them for a huge profit once the title sold out. Then Lukas announced a second run of 3000 and the guy went quiet.

I'm pretty sure the supposed speculator was just blowing smoke, but sometimes I hope he really did that and got burned.
