Hello, Author Jones: While watching the short documentary intro to the 40th anniversary screening it was not possible to not think of your book with its comprehensive treatment. Am bringing the thread back for a thorough re-reading to see if anything in m'cluttered mind, like V'ger, has evolved.

I guess now's a good time to fess up: I've read though this three times. The first was the hunger for exclusive info; the second, to verify that the book was indeed that wonderful. My third time was to relive the experience of the making of the picture, yes – but to also indulge in the pure, epic tome that Preston has created. A masterpiece.
Thanks for the heads-up. Not much of a Trek fan, but I love extensive making of books and since the Kindle version is less than 10€ at Amazon.de right now this was an easy purchase.
Didn't even have to blink. I'm already 70 pages in and can't put it down. This is a damn fine work. How this remained unpublished for so long defies comprehension.
I just got the new book by Jeff Bond & Gene Kozicki: Star Trek The Motion Picture Inside the Art and & Visual Effects and it looks like this new book was born because of Preston's amazing Return to Tomorrow book. It also quotes from some of the interviews too.
I loved Preston's book and am very much looking forward to spending some quality time with this new one.
