Could be long out of print, hard to find or most valued because of its rarity, which one is that?
I have a couple that are in this category: Phantasm with Phantasm 2 and Krull the SCSE edition. These two I paid for as used copies and more than what my budget asked for but worth it.
But the most I paid for was the FSM Ben Hur soundtrack collection.

I have a number of OOP titles from LLL, FSM, Varese and Intrada, but none that I'd really count as that rare yet.

However, I do have the vinyl version of the TRON: Legacy score, which seems to be going for ridiculous prices on the secondary market now that it's OOP.

I had the original Varese The Burbs release but I traded it away. Probably, my current rarest score would be Bruce Broughton's The Old Man and the Sea, which I hunted long and hard to find.

To Captain_Avis

I have The Burbs Deluxe Edition which at the time was a big value. I notice it is starting to drop down in price lately. I was excited when I bought it. I listened to it and even though it was good, I probably would pass on this purchase now. Don't know why?

The Oscar promos for Fly Away Home (Isham), Moulin Rouge (Armstrong) and A.I. (2-CD, Williams). Reportedly, only 250 copies were made of these.

I think this topic has come up before and my response was an LP of the Fantastic Voyage soundtrack. It's actually an acetate with a mock-up gatefold cover. Apparently a soundtrack was planned but not released at the time the film came out. As I recall, this has dialogue excerpts as well as music, so I've never been sure if this was actually done by the Fox studios or something that someone made up on their own, but even if the latter is the case there can't be too many of these floating around.

I think my Excalibur soundtrack and The Name of the Rose soundtrack are my most rare soundtracks and also very sentimental choices for me.

I don't think that anything I have is rare anymore. Some of these cd's were rare and very expensive at the time I bought them, but since then, they have been re-issued, issued for the
mass market, or re-issued in expanded or complete form, so that the originals I had (and in some
cases still have) are pretty much almost worthless today. For example, the original "French
Revolution" on 2 separate cd's. Paid standard issue price when it came out, then was worth a lot
when it went out of print; was worth not a lot when the first re-issue came out, and now not
worth much at all with the advent of the new Music Box complete version (with corrected stereo
channels and extra music not on the first two issues). Same thing for the promo of "Hocus Pocus"
which also is probably worth very little due to the release of the complete version awhile back.
Lots of other titles too numerous to mention. Not complaining here, just observing tis' all. But I guess that's the way it goes in this particular hobby. Now, if I owned a 1967 Corvette Stingray in
mint condition the same depreciation would not have been a consideration. That's the nature of the beast.

Depends how you define these things. I have a number of scores given to me by the composers themselves which were never released commercially in any form.

Maybe it is Mark Snow`s score to the Swedish produced Imax film UFO: the truth is here. It was apparently only sold in only one store (at the Museum Of Nature History in Stockholm) and only under a very limited period of time. Someone on this board wanted to buy it and he was prepared to pay 500 US Dollar for it but I will not sell it.

How about... the Japan CD release " Warner WPCP-3860 "

of....

Superman II - and - III

....this is still a CD that is unique - even though we have The Blue Box - some of the cues are still special like - "Lovers Fly North" for example (SII) it has that 00:02 second introduction that is missing in The Blue Box, because the cue overlaps.

Having cues that are on it's own, makes the CD special - another one could be "Clark Fumbles Rescue" - because there is mo preamble on the original release - simple things like that make the CD unique.
