Kronos Records is immensely proud to present the CD soundtrack for Giulio Antomoro's CHRISTUS from 1916, one of the first epic biblical films of the silent age of cinema.

Another must have!

Hope folks give the samples a chance... especially those unfamiliar with Frisina's work.

Samples are really nice. Not familiar with the composer - What else is worth checking out by him?

Frisina is great! The more you check the better! (Pompei, Sant Antonio, Papa Giovanni, Il bambino di Betlemme, his scores for La Bibbia series, Chiara e Francesco, etc. Unfortunately many of his CDs are out of print.

There's a compilation CD of his best film music, probably you should check that one first:

I'm very glad that after a long hiatus a new Frisina CD will be released!

Can't recommend CHIARA E FRANCESCO highly enough... or SAN ANTONIO DI PADOVA if you can find it for a decent price... I have yet to hear a score from him I wouldn't like although his work is not that variable based on what I've heard so far... and obviously neither is his selection of projects, which are pretty much all related to his "other profession".

But everyone should have CHIARA at least...
Here is a little sample of his work smile

A serious question: How does a release like this make financial sense?

Even if it sells out, and every copy is sold without a middleman so Kronos gets the full amount, they'll take in less than $6,000. (And in fact, it's less than that, since Screen Archives and Intrada carry Kronos CDs and are taking a few bucks for themselves.) Now subtract from that mastering, manufacturing, rights payments, and everything else… what is their margin on this? Can it be more than $1,000? (And that's if it sells out!)

I'm not knocking it. More power to them! I'm just flummoxed by the business model.

A little bit of money is better than nothing, and it's not like their options are as in demand as that of a label such as Intrada. It's fortunate that we have a label like Kronos.

By the way, if anybody feels guilty, if you order directly from them, just send them more money than your check-out total.

Ever since I played his scores to ABRAMO, GIACOBBE and a few others like SANT ANTONIO DI PADOVA or TRISTANO E ISOTTA, I've been fond of Frisina's unique and wonderful style. In the excerpts of CHRISTUS, I do recognize many of his trademarks, in particular the use of the choir, the woodwind section, the harp, etc.

Regarding the 300 copy issue, I'm not surprised at all. Many Italian labels have done this since several years and other labels like MUSIC BOX RECORDS also use to release only 350 copies for some of their titles. Ditto with the last physical albums of the Canadian label CINEMUSIQUE. It simply means that the potential market for such obscure and/or forgotten scores is not higher, regardless of how good they are on a musical point of view.

I received this a couple of days ago.I've managed to play it through twice (it's 77mins).I can say I am very happy with it.It is lush ,melodic ,a bit of choral work.I can't be more specific, yet, perhaps when I know it better. For anyone unsure,it's worth a go.

Received my copy yesterday. What an amazing score. I am overwhelmed by it's beauty, passion and sound. I can honestly say this is THE release of the year for me. Thank you KRONOS! Thank you Godwin for all the terrific and wonderful work you do for us all.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Debating picking this up. 77 minutes of heavy choral/orchestral music without a lot of variance sounds tiresome though, something I may not visit terribly often... Can anyone speak for how diverse the score might be in its tone, or is it consistent throughout?
