Is it okay I have good feelings for the film? Even if I turn out to be wrong, I'll enjoy this optimism anyway.

I suppose it is Ridley Scott, the score could hopefully be junked. But really ? Of all the composers to choose from.... Jed Kurzel ? From the likes of Goldsmith and Horner how things have fallen. Fallen is an understatement...........it should have read......Totally , utterly and completely collapsed to zero interest............

Exactly. Why am I supposed to be *shocked*, *surprised*, *amazed*, *scared*, etc?? There are a couple of shots in this that seem interesting (as they connect the dots), such as the black eggs sacks and the spore. But the screaming people running around in terror from the alien? ReeaaalllllYY?? Come on, please. That's all they can deliver here? Why can't they make a "camp-fire story" story that gives us something new? Why were the engineers headed to earth? What were the aliens created for in the first place? Maybe this movie will answer those questions, but it looks like it will devolve into more of the same. Seems to be a lose-lose situation for Scott the way you describe it. Scott tried some of that in PROMETHEUS (successfully, IMO), but many fans hated it. They wanted more xenomorph, more action, more corridors, less talky philosophy. This film seems to be a PERFECT hybrid between the two.

You know, it just occured to me -- they released the traielr today, on Christmas. What a crummy way to say "Merry Christmas, Harry Gregson-Williams!"

Instead I get a slasher vibe.
