As confirmed in the film's first trailer.

Is it okay I have good feelings for the film?
Even if I turn out to be wrong, I'll enjoy this optimism anyway.

Good trailer! I just hope this score sounds NOTHING like Assassin's Creed

Yeah this sucks (based on everything I have heard from Kurzel). I have yet to hear a cue I can call 'good' done by him.

I suppose it is Ridley Scott, the score could hopefully be junked. But really ? Of all the composers to choose from.... Jed Kurzel ?

From the likes of Goldsmith and Horner how things have fallen.

Screw the naysayers!

The trailer looks BLOODY FANTASTIC (literally)! Combines the best of both PROMETHEUS (which I absolutely adored, btw) and the preceding ALIEN movies. Can't wait!

The choice of Jed Kurzel is very intriguing. He's done some interesting scores for THE BABADOOK and SLOW WEST, in particular, and should be able to carry the eerieness and the originality requried. Looking forward to hear what he'll come up with. Marc Streitenfeld's PROMETHEUS has grown on me on album over the years (although HGW's "Life" theme is still the best part), but this is a more progressive choice, I think.

And PLEASE -- stop comparing a relative newcomer with the likes of Goldsmith, Horner or Goldenthal (or even Frizzell). Let's just give him a chance, shall we?

I guess someone took the suggestion in the JoBlo review of ASSASSIN'S CREED to heart:

The best thing is the period production design and the thundering score by Jed Kurzel, which is better than the movie deserves (someone like Ridley Scott would be wise to snap him up for their next period epic).

Good opportunity for him, then.

This doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as dogshit.

Looks like a Paul WS Anderson movie... appalling.

Fallen is an understatement...........it should have read......Totally , utterly and completely collapsed to zero interest............

Attacked while making out in the shower? Looks pretty sophomoric like those "classic" Friday the 13th films.

Damn. It's really too bad. I felt that Prometheus was an elegant departure from the Alien movies, and it was trying to give us a story that showed the evolution of the creatures, more about the space jockey characters, and not just be a literal re-interpreation of something we have already seen. And it almost succeeded, but it became a confusing and unresolved mixed bag. Now we have this movie that seems to be just another Alien outting. Yawn.

It's all the hilarious screaming too. Yeah they were frightened out of their minds in the original two Alien films, but there wasn't this level of hysteria.

The original Alien was a horror movie that pretended to be science fiction. Prometheus was a science fiction movie that was just a horror as science fiction. Let's hope Scott gets the formula right this time.

Just saw the trailer. Good call.

Though I'm fascinated by Danny McBride in a (relatively) serious role, I'm just not into this.

Exactly. Why am I supposed to be *shocked*, *surprised*, *amazed*, *scared*, etc?? There are a couple of shots in this that seem interesting (as they connect the dots), such as the black eggs sacks and the spore. But the screaming people running around in terror from the alien? ReeaaalllllYY?? Come on, please. That's all they can deliver here? Why can't they make a "camp-fire story" story that gives us something new? Why were the engineers headed to earth? What were the aliens created for in the first place? Maybe this movie will answer those questions, but it looks like it will devolve into more of the same.

Seems to be a lose-lose situation for Scott the way you describe it. Scott tried some of that in PROMETHEUS (successfully, IMO), but many fans hated it. They wanted more xenomorph, more action, more corridors, less talky philosophy. This film seems to be a PERFECT hybrid between the two.

You know, it just occured to me -- they released the traielr today, on Christmas. What a crummy way to say "Merry Christmas, Harry Gregson-Williams!"

But it has neither in the trailer. Instead I get a slasher vibe.
