Katharine McPhee (who was the runner-up on the fifth season of American Idol) has done good acting work on television in "Smash" and now in "Scorpion."

There is no acting in Scorpion. Piece of trash-everyone on that show sucks.

J lo seems to be doing a very good job in Shades of Blue.

And she was very believable in the Jason Statham vehicle "Parker", apart from the fact that she wasn't dating anyone.

wait, there was nothing believable about any jason statham film ev-ar!!!! big grin

Well, my favorite has to be Richard Hageman. He had a brilliant comic flair and even does a nifty double-take in HI DIDDLE DIDDLE. He is also in SENSATIONS OF 1945.

As for acting singers, who can forget Tony Bennett in THE OSCAR??!!

Madonna was fairly average but she wasnt bad in that erotic thriller with dafoe and ok in League of their own.
There has to be hundreds isnt there? At one time it was normal practice for all singers to dabble with acting at some point.

David essex, partridge family, slade, the spice girls, etc etc.

And some the other way.

Ringo Starr has been in quite a few films, The Magic Christian, That'll Be The Day, Caveman & many more, but I don't think his acting improved much.

The worse singing actor? David Bowie gets my vote.

And whole groups, The Beatles...

Yes, sometimes to better effect than others. A HARD DAY'S NIGHT came out really well. HELP! was a mixed bag; the Beatles came off okay, the music was great, but the movie overall wasn't up to AHDN. YELLOW SUBMARINE, the last of the *fictional* feature-length films of the group, only had the group making a very stilted appearance for about two minutes at the end. The rest of the film had the voices supplied by professional cartoon voice actors...

It's rare they get real sink-your-teeth-into roles like the ones in opening post. I'm looking at the roster of performers mentioned so far. A number acquitted themselves nicely, for many acting was more of a lark not to be repeated much if at all.

Anyway, Harry Connick Jr. now comes to mind.
