Decades ago I used to order from Deep Discount all the time. Great service and prices. It's been a long time since I purchased anything from them, but I recently placed a new online order.
They sent me another customers order! I emailed them and I was told to mail it back, (at their expense, minus me buying a return envelope), meanwhile they would immediately send out the proper order. Then I received an email which said once they got the wrong items back, they would refund my money! (and I supposed not send me the order I requested?) Seems a bit blackmail-ish to me.
Are they really this fracked up nowadays? Should I try again?
If it's the company I'm thinking of, they are based in Itasca, Illinois. I visited their warehouse/ customer store once. It had a reasonable selection on offer. Deep Discount DVD also opened a proper store in Naperville, Illinois. This has been closed for some years now, as I guess they couldn't compete with the likes of Best Buy and the other outlets.
Are they really this fracked up nowadays? Should I try again?
Yes, they are. No, you shouldn't.
I ordered from them once. After a long, long wait, they decided to simply not ship one of my items with no explanation and refund my money instead. Meanwhile, I lost out on an opportunity to purchase that item at a lower rate from a different venue. Great start. The rest of my items arrived in shamefully poor condition. The deep discount is because most of their stock is likely reject items other venues won't accept for selling. Getting my refund was like pulling teeth and mountains of stress. All of their email replies were in the form of weirdly colored and sized cut-and-paste responses that only had marginally to do with what I was talking about. When I finally got a real person in the end, they were extremely unprofessional.

Buyer beware. Maxima buyer beware.
Well that stinks. I also took note of the "generic" copy and paste replies when I had specific issues I wanted answered regarding my order. Hope I get my money back at least!
I also used to frequently buy from them years ago and enjoyed great fast service.
Just recently made a purchase from them on ebay of AMAZING STORIES SEASON TWO DVD Collection and am waiting to receive. Hopefully all will be great. Item has tracking and looks like I should have it in the next few days. I'll let you know how deep discount on ebay worked out when I get it.

Zoob
I sent back the incorrect items 10 days ago. Still awaiting my proper order, or a full refund. I just sent a follow up email. If there's no response I'll use the customer service phone number "dragon53" was kind enough to provide.
Well now that they have my money and the items back, they're not to quick in replying to customer service emails. Not even a "standard form" response.
Did you pay by credit card? A "stop payment" might be in order. Credit card companies work like Ennio Morricone when it comes to that sort of thing. They did for me when UPS screwed me over on one of their famous (non)deliveries.

It was a debit card. A fast Google search says it's possible to cancel a debit card transaction. But these things usually come with a fee. I'll look into it.

It was a debit card in my case, too, and it didn't take long for the refund. Let the bank (mine was a credit union) work for you.
So Solium, I received my Deep Discount order that I bought from Deep Discount selling on ebay. I had made the Order on July 10 and received today July 18 in great condition sent from Kentucky.
Will be checking out the DVDs tonight. It's the 4 DVD Set of AMAZING STORIES SEASON 2 that Universal never put out themselves. Seems the company UMBRELLA ENTERTAINMENT somehow was able to release this set. UNIVERSAL'S Season One Box set was much nicer in hard box with lots of info, but this bare bones packaging is acceptable yet a little disappointing hoping it would match Season One's presentation.
So, to get the item with Free Shipping in about 7 days, I'm pretty satisfied.

I'm very happy your transaction went well. I originally placed my order in June so it's been 3 or 4 weeks at this point. Even if I get my package (or money back) I won't order from them again. To bad because they have some awesome deals.
Maybe they just give better service when you order the stuff they put on ebay.
Anyway, hope it is all resolved in your favor solium. I do have Horror stories from the past with another outlet mentioned, but that's all in the past and I have long forgotten and ceased to order from them.
