Surely, its a mistake, but anyway:

It's an article about Oscar predictions, and has this to say about the Original Score Oscar:

Battle of the Sexes (Nicholas Britell)
Victoria & Abdul (Thomas Newman)
Baby Driver (Steven Price)
Wonderstruck (Carter Burwell)

Molly's Game (Sufjan Stevens)
Call Me By Your Name (Sufjan Stevens)

I suppose someone actually began recording his score this weekend...

And Molly's Game? WTF?!
What a BS list!

Well, it could be a mistake -- "Molly' Game" already had a score recorded not too long ago and that's not the composer. Daniel Pemberton is the composer.

Recorded in early August.

Yeah, no one outside of this board (and its family tree of other boards) knows fucking anything about film music.

Yeah, no one outside of this board (and its family tree of other boards) knows fucking anything about film music.

Also, there's no way Price would be nominated for Baby Driver, a film 99% dominated by songs, let alone be a major threat. And Wonder Woman? GTFO.

and Detroit? How long is the score according to JNH? 10 minutes?

Surely, its a mistake

Probably, but a strange thing happens when you Google "All the money in the world composer"

Nothing strange about it -- Google often uses Wikipedia as a source for that.

Frontrunner - Dunkirk

That better be a fucking joke.

I know, but Wikipedia doesn't mention John Williams and neither does any other website as far as I can tell, which is why I found it strange that it's what Google comes up with.

Certainly JWFan have only got Last Jedi, The Papers, and Indy 5 on their "Upcoming Scores" slate for the maestro...

One must also ask how he would fit it into his busy schedule, bearing in mind he's already dropped out of READY PLAYER ONE due to working on STAR WARS 8 & The Washington Post film.
I seriously doubt he'd swerve a Spielberg film to work with tin-eared Scott.

Frontrunner - Dunkirk

That better be a fucking joke.

Between the use of an Elgar motif and the separate cues credited to Wallfisch, I suspect Dunkirk won't be eligible (of course, I said something similar about The Hateful Eight...)

Could it be that Harry Gregson-Williams is doing the Ridley, and they just got their Williams confused?

Detroit as a frontrunner is certainly laughable -- not only is much of the brief score ambient, but a different composer gets credit for the ambient music.

That's another reason Williams seemed an unlikely choice -- I can't see him signing on for a movie where his music might get f****d with. To repeat the old line attributed variously to William Goldman and Elmer Bernstein, he's "too old and too rich to give a f***."

This article also puts Baby Driver as a major contender, and will probably be inelegible too.
